there was no time left to wait: once their lips crashed together, his craving for her only grew, and though her mouth gave him a taste of what he wanted, his hands searched for more, roaming her still-clothed body with adoration and desire both. even as their bodies pressed flush against each other, hidden away into some corner during yet another one of the council’s senseless balls, he couldn’t help but burn hotter for her and on a whim, sheer impulse, he tore her bodice open, drawing a gasp of surprise out of her and a chastising klaus.

klaus didn’t think much of the new message notification he received, only wondering for a moment when, exactly, he had added jackson’s number to his phone. as soon as the message opened, any particular thought escaped him, and he nearly choked on his bourbon, setting the drink aside amidst a coughing fit. glancing around himself to make sure no one had seen what he had just had on his screen, he took a second look at the sallacious picture.

he knew there had to be a reason for hayley to pursue jackson rather than his brother.

       obviously, the argument with her father hadn’t gone as planned – then again, what argument between two strong-willed mikaelsons ever went as planned? her anger was definitely something that hope got from her father. but her compassion? that came from her mother. her compassion was the reason that she was now regretting the words that she had spoken. after all, it didn’t matter how mad she was – he was still her father. 

       after nearly an hour of much needed cool down time, hope knew that the right thing to do was apologize. she didn’t know where klaus was, but she figured that if she wandered around town long enough, she would find him – and she did. spotting him in the park, seemingly going on a tangent to what appeared to be a stranger, hope stood back and watched the scene before her unfold. it wasn’t until she heard her father threaten to kill the woman the she stepped forward. ❝ dad – just let her go. it’s me you’re mad at, not her. ❞

he turned around at hope’s chastising dad. klaus had never guessed that would be a thing, but there they were. “hope,” he greeted her back, features immediately softening. he was never keen on showing her his uglier side and her presence alone served to change his mind. making a victim out of an innocent bystander? not a problem. but in front of his daughter? absolutely not. shaking his head, klaus stepped closer to the girl. “i’m not mad at you, sweetheart, i could never be mad at you. i’m just...” he pressed his lips together, averting his gaze, motioning around himself as if that would magically summon the word he was looking for. it was inadequate. instead, he went for, “...i don’t know how to do this. stand idly by, stay out of your way... hayley made it look so easy - but it’s not.”

Eli listened to the male as he spoke and was all consumed in himself. It was almost as if the male looked straight through the male and that angered him. Not noticing the familiarity of him compared to Hope and Hayley too. At the mention of a witch, the male smirked.

“You know I do know how difficult that can be… but I’ve never really needed another person to do magic for me…” He stated with a sip of his own drink. “As for knowing what I do, I had a great teacher… I’m sure you know of her… The same person that taught dear aunt Freya..” he mentioned in what he hoped would be knife in the gut for his father.

klaus didn’t expect a response from the young man seated next to him at the bar, after all he was in one of those terrible moods where all he wanted to do was nag someone’s ear off and then draw a little blood. his drink was halfway to his lips when the boy mentione not only freya’s name, but dahlia’s as well, in a way.

freezing in the spot, he turned his head to eye him, and just for a moment his irises turned that wrathful golden yellow hue. his glass shattered against the ground, spilling whiskey everywhere, when he sped out of the bar with the boy caught in his fists - pushing him into the wall with rage brewing in his chest. rage and fear, for his family and himself.

Sookie needed space from her home town of Bon Temps after discovering she was this mostly human part fairy type hybrid thing, it was a lot to deal with, so she wanted space. She was still in Louisana but in New Orleans now working as a waitress at yet another bar and grill. It's what Sookie knew, it was what she was good at, she went over to the table just sat in her area, she was surprised at how quiet it was. How quiet it was without her even having to try to block it out, it was nice enough for her to say something outloud. "You're so quiet, I think I might love it." The words just slipped out before she cleared her throat trying to pretend like that didn't just happen. "Sorry, guessin' I just got lost in space for a bit. What can I get ya'?"

klaus had just berated josh on his phone over the vampire’s latest failure when a pretty little waitress came over to his table. she was new, he was at the place often enough to know, but she was an odd one. quiet, him? “if i knew that’s all it took, i would’ve been much quieter,” klaus threw back, never one to pass up the chance to flirt with a pretty blonde. “how about a whiskey on the rocks, love? the nice stuff.”

The irritation was plain on Aurora’s face as he cut her off. How could he act as though her problem was nothing more than trivial nonsense? Oh, because he wanted to focus on his problem. Emerald eyes rolled with exasperation as she readied herself for the bourbon fueled monologue that was about to besiege her ears. As annoyed as she was about the fact that he didn’t seem to think a werewolf biting her was an issue (or at least not one worth discussing after he’d given her his blood to cure her of the bite), Klaus could give a speech like few others could. Of course, with one phone call, she could have asked her brother to send a whole coven of competent witches, but that solution to his problem was far to obvious for his liking certainly. 

“Well, there is the age old option of you find one witch, I’ll find a family member, and you tell the witch to do your bidding or else someone dies. If I don’t hear from you, the loved one dies. It could be rather fun.”

he didn’t much care for her irritation, after all he was klaus mikaelson and notorious for making himself a nuisance whenever he felt like it. as long as she didn’t push back ( and he wasn’t in a terribly antagonizing mood ) nothing came of it. her suggestion was met with a smile however, temporarily distracting him from his own vexation. 

stirring his drink in one hand, klaus hummed. “that sounds like just what i need. however, the question remains - who shall we taunt tonight, my dear?” reaching out to her, klaus traced his fingertips over the patch of flesh where once had been quite the nasty bite. “you could use a different kind of drink too.”

“HOPE!” he is quick to approach the girl, catching her delicate face between his palms and searching her for wounds against reason. “are you alright, sweetheart?” his worry and his wrath are laced together. the thought of someone else laying a finger on his daughter sending his blood raging through his veins straight to his head and painting his eyes with a familiar yellow golden rage. “who did this?”

        “𝓘 uh… I didn’t intrude, did I? I really should have made myself known. I apologize for that.”

he smiled at the apologetic intruder, putting the book back in its place on the shelf. “of course not, sweetheart. i was just taking a look around here.” the party downstairs was rambunctious, muffled by the thick walls of their host’s library. “i’m taking a break from socializing, but you are welcome to hide in here with me.” 

the first thing he did once he was back from his slumber was to embrance his daughter and to enjoy a nice dinner with his family. once hope was back off to college and freya decided he was in fact rid of the hollow for good, klaus was free to pick up things where he left off and the first thought to cross his mind was a kiss, planted on his lips by one caroline forbes, years ago.

he drove over to mystic falls, decided to think about how to best approach her on the way, but as klaus pulled into the salvatore school, he had yet to make up his mind. part of him was certain she had only entertained him then out of fear or sympathy for his imminent death. after the experience, however, klaus was sure he no longer wanted to wait around for the chance to be with her.

( it might make things awkward for the girls, but hope would understand. ) 

after a quick look around the school grounds, he found caroline in her office, knocking on the open door with his knuckles to announce himself. despite racking his brain for the right way to do this, klaus found himself at a loss for words. there was no stringing of words that could express how he felt in that moment, seeing her again, alive and well, with an endless sea of opportunities ahead of himself and a single desire in his heart. all he could get out then was a simple, “long time no see, love.”
