CUBA - Cayo Las Iguanas - December 2013

One of the most peaceful place I've been. Feels like you're in the middle of nowhere : just you, the sea and blue sky... AND giant iguanas! First time I've seen those and at first it's a bit scary but after a while they are like lil dogs trying to get food. Good thing to know : they don't have teeth so you won't lose a finger ;-)

You can only get to this island by boat, we got there by Catamaran, a 2h trip from Playa Ancon with a little stop by a coral to do some snorkeling.

"OLD" & "FRESH"

CUBA - Trinidad - December 2013

Such a cute city! It's pretty small and nothing much to do but it's simply beautiful. All the walls of the casas are nicely painted in bright colors. It's almost like walking thru Disneyland with a carrribean touch! 

The whole center is all paved streets so be prepared to have some ankle muscle pain especially if you wear flip flops like me...

There we stayed at a "Casa Particular" : Daisy y José's casa. It was very cool, that family was very helpful and cooked some delicious dishes! It's very cheap and so much nicer than staying in hotels.

What to check : the whole city is very nice to visit. At night go to the "Casa de la Musica" close to the Plaza Mayor, there's lots of people dancing salsa, live musics, a good mix of tourists and cubans. ;)

Trinidad is a nice city to stay for a few days : the beach Playa Ancon is closed, and you can do a lot of excursions from there.

"COLORS" & "SYMMETRY"

CUBA - Havana - December 2013

One of the places I've been wanting to visit! Such a "rich" country, that will probably lose its charm in the next few years. I'm glad got to visit it now!

The cars are AMAZING it's like going back in time I wish I could of just brought one back with me... For me all the streets were amazing, very interesting : some were chaos and some were really cute. People are very friendly but the down side is, most of the time they will try to sell you something or ask you for money..

You hear LIVE music everywhere, and at almost any time of the day so that's really nice.

What to check : All the streets in Habana Vieja / El museo del chocolado ! Got the best hot chocolate ever! And reaaally cheap (but don't expect to visit a museum.. it's more like a coffee pleace selling fresh chocolates / La Guarida : the building is amazing and the restaurant is very good and fancy and not so expensive.

My advice : Don't be scared to get lost in the Habana Vieja, it's safe. Wear confortable shoes (as the streets are most of them paved or full of holes) so DO NOT wear heals! ;-) Dowload the app : CityMaps to go : very useful!

"BALANCE" & "REFLECTION"

ITALY - Pisa - July 2013

One of the best place to have a layover is : Pisa !

Small cute city where the airport is only few minutes away from the center and the nice monuments such as the Tower of Pisa.

You can also check the famous wall painted by Keith Haring.

So in less than 2h you can : check the Tower, take a few "touristic" pictures, eat a gelato, check the small stores, check the wall of Keith Haring and back to the airport! 

All that for just a few euros!
