• you’re never truly alone at the farm. Despite being surrounded by forest, someone always finds their way to wander in. They never have cars, you don’t know where they come from. It’s never the same people.

• the Apple tree at the bottom of the hill produces the most beautiful apples. Never eat them. Something has been wrong with that tree for a long time.

• the chickens squawk at something in the broad daylight. You see nothing, but they are panicked. Slowly dread creeps in on you as you finally calm them down. Was something watching me?

• the old well is not to be looked at. We let it get overgrown for a reason. But every full moon, the dog is sure that something comes out of it.

• the trees are overcrowded and indiscernible from each other, something lurks behind them, but you never see it.

• mushrooms grow just off the trail, guiding you deeper into the woods. Remember what direction the trail is.

• your dogs want to chase something, they’re trying to tell you it’s right there but you never hear the stomping of deer or yelling of squirrels. You figure they just wanted to run around.

• the marsh is dried up, only brambles remain where it was. You could easily walk across it, but something convinces you to avoid stepping into it.

• wear bright colors, you don’t want to be mistaken for something else. Bright reds mark you as safe, but stay quiet in the woods. Hunting isn’t allowed out here, but you shouldn’t take chances.

• there’s no trails here, do you really know how to read a compass? Something in your mind tracks how far away the road is, but sometimes you swear it should be just in front of you.

• chanterelles grow in lines, taking you deeper into the woods. You never follow them back completely, you take what you need and leave. The woods loves to test Greed.
