What's Up, Doc?

“Juliana.  I was wondering if you would talk with her.  I feel like you might be able to help figure out what she’s thinking.  It’s beginning to feel like she is just keeping things bottled up.”

“Juliana? I’m sure with everything that’s gone on, she hasn’t been handling it well. I can schedule a session with her, get her some coloring books and talk to her. When would work best?”

We’ll just have to manage them a little more carefully.

“Definitely, especially with the increase in people we brought from Six.”

Yes I do.  I labelled everything this time, and I’m going to start making people clean extra bedpans if they don’t keep it nice and neat.

“That’ll definitely help. Wish you could do that for the whole infirmary. But we can start small first.”

So you think I’m crazier than I already know I am?

“Having PTSD doesn’t make you crazy, Owen. You’re not crazy for what you see and what had happened to you. You went through a very traumatic experience, and it had a very deep effect on your psyche. But I think there’s something else that’s adding fuel to the fire, escalating the other problems you’re going through right now.”

Right, sorry for making this so depressing.

“No, it’s all right. At least we got it out of our systems. Better than sitting with all that.”

You…..you really don’t make….much sense.  For…for a doctor.

“Wishing for something doesn’t affect my skills as a doctor.”

“It could have been worse out there, Devyn. I’ve dealt with worse.”

“Still doesn’t make it anything to dismiss.”

“What you’re saying makes perfect sense and I know you’re just doing your job but I hope you know I’m probably going to end up disregarding it all and discharging myself sooner rather than later.”

“I had a feeling that was going to be the case. Just try to take it easy for another day, at least, if you do end up discharging yourself early.”
