MIMIKYU:  A lonely Pokémon, it conceals its terrifying appearance beneath an old rag so it can get closer to people and other Pokémon.

MEOWTH (ALOLAN):  A royal house that flourished in the distant past brought it here from another region. Meowth is both selfish and prideful.

WOBBUFFET:  Wobbuffet does nothing but endure attacks - it won't attack on its own. However, it won't endure an attack on its tail. Usually docile, a Wobbuffet strikes back ferociously if its black tail is attacked.

LIEPARD:  These Pokémon vanish and appear unexpectedly. Many Trainers are drawn to their beautiful form and fur.

MARSHADOW:  It sinks into the shadows of people and Pokémon, where it can understand their feelings and copy their capabilities.

        alright, my dudes, i should be heading to bed.  which means instead i’m going to play ov.erwatch for a bit and see if i can forgive its betrayal.

       now he’s grinning from ear to ear and his cheeks are a little flushed. he’ll admit it; he wasn’t happy to have her here, but it’s not like he’s having a bad time. as long as no one knows he’s required to have a babysitter, maybe he’ll still have a chance of making new friends.

       maybe, he thinks, bee could be his friend. but she’s way too cool to hang out with a freshman who’s getting over a stutter.

        the code name makes him feel warm— ridiculously so— and he isn’t sure why. it’s more than the silver tongue comment. of course it is. because bill knows he doesn’t have a silver tongue, knows that he’s charming but that his tongue doesn’t quite follow fast enough, but he doesn’t know what it is that’s got him feeling so confident all of a sudden. so grown up.

       “yuh-yeah, that’s it,” bill responds, and he flicks a pea across the table at her. a pea he definitely hadn’t been planning on eating, but a pea his parents had cooked for him anyway. they don’t seem to care that he doesn’t like them. “bullshit.”

              ❝ oh, i see.  not a single problem when you wanna say bullshit, huh?  if you think that means i’m just going to let you walk around cussing all day -- eh, then you’re probably right, ❞ bee tells him.

                 her eyebrow lifts as the pea shoots toward her, blue eyes narrowing in response.  she lifts it between her thumb and her forefinger, brandishing it as though it were a deeply personal affront.  she shakes her head slowly, voice dropping to mimic an old western.   ❝ is that a challenge?  they say you’re the fastest pea flinger in these parts... but they haven’t met me.  i eat peas like this for dinner. ❞

                 in a display of RAW GRIT, bee crushes the spent ammunition between her fingers before dropping it to the table, discarded and pitiful.

             ❝ moment of truth, alright?  take your time, think this through.  sometimes in life, you have to make choices that will haunt for for the rest of your life. ❞   this is not one of them.   ❝ give it to me straight: HORROR OR SCI FI? ❞

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFffffffffffffffffffff.  got kicked from my game by a server error and penalized for it so now i’m a grumpum and i’m gonna hang out here instead of letting bli.zzard steal any more of my soul tonight.

       “fourteen,” bill corrects softly, turning his head to look at her. her question causes a soft smile to tug at his lips, but it doesn’t quite reach his eyes yet. he’s about to give her an answer— my brother george died. i guess that’s why we moved.— when she decides she doesn’t want to hear. some part of him likes that she calls it a mystery when he feels it’s not very mysterious at all, and her story brings a wider smile to his lips. 

        “is thuh-that my story?” he asks, blue eyes flicking up to meet hers. they’re similar shades. “what’s my codenuh—name?”

            bee knows his age -- bill’s parents told her when they first contacted her about coming to watch him every so often -- but she also knows that it feels much cooler to be mistaken for an older teen than a younger one.

            ❝ hell yeah, that’s your story! ❞ bee answers, dropping her fist onto the table in a display of utter conviction.  ❝ you know, until my super secret anonymous source finds out next month that you were swapped at birth and are actually next in line for the english throne. ❞

         even at the academy, his reputation had preceded him  –  that’s Jones ;  you know, one of the mystery kids  –  and to this day, he still earned a good deal of teasing from his fellow detectives.  his record spoke for itself, however, with countless captures and convictions earning him several commendations at a young age and earning more flak from the guys at the station, whose grubby fingers probably hadn’t seen a raise since Fred’s infancy.   

         he doesn’t recall every face he’s put away, every crook and creep that he’s successfully put behind bars, but the sight of Bee  –  who doesn’t seem to have aged a day  –  sends his stomach into knots.  the recollection of the crime scene and the countless bodies they later discovered was one of his most vivid memories, along with Bee’s scowl as she reluctantly allowed the police to lead her away in handcuffs.  fingers twitch within the pocket of his slacks, ready to go for his gun at a moment’s notice, should she try anything funny.   

          ❛  i think i outgrew that a long time ago.  ❜

              ❝ driving the van or thinking it’s cool? ❞ bee asks, lips twitching upward.  despite her casual posture, her eyes search for outward signs of his thoughts.  he recognizes her, she’s certain.  she doesn’t even have to wonder about that -- a convenient side effect of her particular deal with the devil is the utter confidence that she leaves a lasting impression.

              to a passerby, her gentle teasing might seem like fond banter reserved exclusively for an old friend.  the importance isn’t in what she says, after all.  her appearance alone is a CHALLENGE, a silent dare to try and best her again.  her impossible youth is a more appropriate taunt than any words she could spit at him, after all -- who would believe him if he told the truth?

              ❝ you know, i’m pretty sure most people grow into vanhood, not out of it.  or is this some sort of midlife crisis?  dude -- tell me you don’t drive some sort of souped up sex mobile now. ❞ as if he’s any older than she is.

              she’s playful because she knows she’s SAFE.  after all this time, what can he do to her?  out of everyone in this city, he’s the only one who knows what she is. and without proof, there’s nothing he can do about it.

               it’s not a face she expected -- nor wanted -- to see again.  she doesn’t recognize him immediately, but being captured and delivered neatly to the police leaves an impression.  the charges hadn’t stuck, of course; the best thing about human nature is that people ALWAYS have wants, and something like a few dismissed cases is apparently a small price to pay in exchange for a blank check from the devil himself.  or at least from his hot, earthly steward.

               even with a clean slate, it had taken time to find a new city, a new batch of the desperate and willing -- and frankly she can’t help but be bitter that her plans were ruined by someone who had apparently spent far too much of his childhood dedicated to the home alone movies. ( seriously, who actually makes traps? )

               the smart move would be to steer clear, and she does consider it, but if she were satisfied as a coward, she wouldn’t have needed the whole devil worship gig.  instead she props herself in his way, fingers tucked down into the pockets of her shorts.
