It's fascinating how different the conclusions are that people who watch VLD can come to. I think that Nartipilled person takes VLD way too seriously, constantly painting Allura as a poor genocide victim, the Alteans as pure and good (like insisting their shape-shifting ability comes from being prey, that's why the Alteans can't be colonizers like the Galra). What is funny/sad is how she is constantly talking about how dysfunctional Lotor's generals are and how much they don't get along with each other and Lotor. In general, why is she painting Lotor as this evil 'colonizer' person when he was clearly abused himself and you know, trying to survive under Zarkon? Crazy work...

I mean, yes, the Alteans experienced a genocide, you know, after Alfor threw in the towel and put Allura into a 10000 year coma. Like, Allura wasn’t there, you know. Plus I do feel like that fact that Allura has darker skin somehow makes her actions immune to criticism, despite her actions being…questionable at times

As far as anything else the aforementioned user has opinions about, I simply wouldn’t know; it seems I have been blocked, which actually is kind of nice, as the Lotor tag is no longer polluted by their posts 🙃 (at least for me). 10/10 would recommend

Voltron did not cause any problems as far as I recall. Zarkon's greed did.

Funnily enough, in my experience, I've found that Allura is commonly criticised for extremely menial things. Like, 'being racist to Keith/Lotor', which she cannot be, given the *systemic* nature of racism. Racism is a prejudice that is institutionally backed -- given the Galra monopoly over all interstellar institutions, given their colonial expansion, the massgenocides they've committed, their mass-grooming of their youth into blind racist violence; Allura's prejudice cannot be called racism. Whether she was fair to Keith is up for debate (I think she did nothing unforgivable), but with Lotor... Um, yeah, given all the shit he pulled in s3, I'd say she was more than warranted. I digress though.

I would say they are quite wrong! It's not Lotor's, who harvested the people he claimed to save, place to criticise Alfor. Especially considering Alfor is a genocide victim, and Lotor continued to perpetrate said genocide against his people. Alfor is not perfect -- he's extremely passive/doomerist, and he *is* a king lmao, but that justifies neither his death nor that of his people/their culture. Unlike Allura, Keith is also not a genocide victim. He might be technically correct (in characterising Alfor as toxic in his passivity), but in the face of Allura's attempt at comfort, to mock the father she's still grieving? Deeply insensitive, not to mention his later comment about Allura 'cozying up to Lotor' (as if Lotor's manipulation was her fault).

I will agree with you on one thing: I doubt you can change my mind. I suspect we have very different worldviews that we bring to the discussion and ultimately it’s not worth it to me to argue over a lighthearted comment
