Leaning back a little his mustering glance gained a tint of disgust.

"I remember now." the far-too-young Alexander spoke, offering his hand to his father. "Take my hand. We can go home." The scene made no sense. How could his child remember a power that had not awoken until he was a full grown man? How could he be there, on the wrong planet?
"Don't tell me the great Bahamut has cold feet." Theia teased, a hand rested on Alexander's shoulder. "Let's make it right. Together." She, too, should not be here. She was in stasis within the Tower of Babil, far, far away.
His mind was playing trick on him. It had to. Because this was far too cruel. This was a twisted reality, a knife that could be plunge din him over and over again. It was a secret. Something buried and hidden so deep within himself, that Bahamut denied its existence himself.
He wanted to revolt. He wanted to shove them away. Tear his hand out of the boy's and turn away.
This wasn't real.
And yet he... couldn't.
This small hand fit so perfectly in his. Still something that had made him still in wonder so often. He had never wanted to be a father. he had never planned to be. Alexander shouldn't have been. A god couldn't have a child just like that with another. It had to be planned. It had to be built.
And yet he had come to them.
And he was perfect.
No.
His glance wandered to her. Theia. And it gained a sadness that shouldn't be there. Weakness. Oh, how he hated this. How he should hate her. For doing this to him. Making him malleable. Weak. Giving him these worries. Giving him this child.
And yet...
How could he?
For all the same reasons...
Canting his head, his eyes screwed shut. he couldn't bear seeing them, hearing them - remembering them. Imagining what could have been.
"Stop taunting me... stop torturing me - please..."

As always, his father takes his measure. The act could have been one of affection, or concern, but both men understood the true meaning that underlined it. The way those hands weighed on his shoulders... kept him in place... it was a reminder of where he stood.
Did him wrong. Hurt his feelings. His words reflected on himself.
How many times had his father pointed out that he was heartless. How could a man without a heart possibly feel? Surely he only knew cold emptiness, like the metal in his chest.
And yet Alexander felt like a chastised boy with pain in his chest.
"So you haven't disowned me." he dryly remarked, unable to muster up more emotion than that. His anger had already been sharpened to a weapon that cut him down.
The noise that escaped Bahamut was half a scoff, half a breath. His hands lifting from Alexander's shoulders to cup his face.
"Disowning you? my own flesh and blood?"
Because after all that was what he was. His son. His heir.
"You've just been... misguided. You were led astray. Away from me. Confused and lost."
His hands kept at Alexander's face, shaking it a little, gentle - but form. Like he was trying to drive home the point of a slight scold.
"You are just a child, Alexander. Nothing more. Naive and so blind to the realities of this world and all the countless others. You need someone to guide you. You need me."

"Your son." Alexander answered tensely. "A fact you seem to have forgotten."
Ironic, coming from him.
A sly smile plays around his lips at Alexander's pitiful attempt at a joke. Bahamut steps up to the other man, straightening the collar on Alexander's jacket, as if that concerned him. Hands remained resting atop the broad shoulders he had inherited from him.
"Ah. You do me so wrong. Why are you out to try and hurt my feelings, hm? It speaks more of yourself, than it says about me, really..."
