Haha! I died again!

“You know, I’ll admit it. I’m curious what dinosaur meat might have tasted like.”

“I WANNA EAT DINOSAURS TOO!”

“I wanna eat a dinosaur!” [Saito, you’re not helping.]

“Yeah, it is pretty nice there. And if you play your cards right, I’m sure you’ll be given the opportunity to travel there for business. Just remember to not get too distracted by Japan’s beauty. That tends to catch a lot of newcomers off guard.”

[Thinking about it, didn’t Detective Jowd say something specific about Lynne, especially when it comes to doing work with her. What did he say? Something about food?] “I highly advise not going around Christmas time. It gets extremely crowded during that time of the year.”

[More specifically, they celebrate Christmas with fried chicken.]

“Homocide, huh? That something you’ve been interested in? It tends to get pretty heavy at times, so don’t be ashamed to take breaks in-between cases. And if something ever leaves you stuck, feel free to approach me. I don’t mind helping out a fellow detective.”

“Okay, got it!” Lynne beamed as Saito described Japan to her. Just the idea of visiting the country was making her feel excited. She sure would forget about Saito’s advice though.

“Yeah, I know. But Inspector Cabanela makes sure to give me simpler and not-so-shocking cases. I’m just at the start of my career, after all! And I do like to take breaks sometimes. I like to spend time at home, taking care of my dog, Missile or hang out with Detective Jowd’s daughter, Kamila. She’s like a little sister to me! Or just hanging out with friends and coworkers to get to know them better.” She smiled. Getting to know her coworkers and making new friends was something she enjoyed.

“Wait, Chicken Kitchen? I heard about that place.” [Or at least seen it.] “Is their chicken really that good?”

Saito, Lynne always pop out of nowhere, be used to it. She is giggling non-stop at his reaction right now.

[… for some reason, he’s now in the mood for chicken tenders.]

“DATE! I’M GOING TO TAKE YOU TO THE CHICKEN KITCHEN!!!”

“Why I sudde–?!” She’s abruptly cut off, and she’s just standing there and oh gods what happened, what happened– suddenly her head falls forward and that laugh–?! Before Blue can react, there’s a blade in his chest and it falls just to the right of his Temsik piece! Way too close for comfort!

“Lynne, snap out of it–!” Blue’s no idiot, he’s already very aware of what just happened before Shard even speaks, and when he does, all the timid Manipulator can do is glare.

“I didn’t miss you at all! G-get out of there! Leave her alone! She doesn’t deserve this!!! Lynne, come on, fight it!”

The panic in Blue’s eyes was making Shard feel pleased. He knew the other couldn’t feel the pain, but the panic was satisfying enough. He’s sneering wickedly at his alt and the evil smirk looks sinister on Lynne’s features.

“I said I had other methods at getting at you, didn’t I? Too bad you underestimate me.”

Shard twisted the knife in Blue’s chest and the wound was trying to close again so he had to be quick. 

“Y-yeah, I know…” But he’s been getting braver! He’s been standing up to that one asshole Yomiel who keeps trying to wreck things! Like people and relationships! … Part of him wonders if the guy wasn’t as lucky regarding connecting with people. Maybe that was why…

“Oh, uh. Yeah, we haven’t talked much, eh? Good to see you again.” Blue manages a smile. “I haven’t been missing, just kinda out and about. Trying to stay outta trouble!”

Too late.

“Yeah! I was wondering why did you suddenly—”

Then she suddenly stops talking. Lynne’s body freezes and her gaze is staring blankly at Blue until—

She lowers her eyes and Blue can hear a faint laugh coming from her. That’s... that’s weird. That’s really weird, but then, Lynne grabs something in her coat’s pocked—a knife— and in a sudden movement, she stabs Blue’s chest with it.

When her eyes lock onto Blue’s again... they’re cyan blue. Oh no—

“Augh, Lynne–!” He nearly collapses under her weight until he strengthens his grip on himself, gripping his core tightly. “Don’t do that to me! What if I fell down on you! I’m heavier than I look, y’know!…”

“Hahaha! You’re just so easy to scare!” 

She laughs playfully as usual. She is acting pretty normal actually. No reason for suspicions, but down in her core, someone waits, like a predator, preparing himself for the right moment.

Lynne suddently jumps on Blue, cheerfully laughing as she usually does whenever she decides to prank her awkward dead friend.

[Saito was told he was going to work with another detective during his time here, and Detective Jowd thought it would be a good idea to introduce her to him. Thinking about it, Saito never considered having a partner while he worked, but if they believed he’d do better with someone by his side to help him solve cases, then so be it.]

[Hearing the new voice, Saito turned and stared at Lynne. She definitely looks new, that’s for sure. Cute… but new. He didn’t know what he was feeling exactly, but Saito didn’t… really like it. It’s not that he has something against her, nor does he ‘sense’ something bad from her. Honestly, he just can’t put his finger on it.]

[Maybe it’ll come to him later.] “Pleasure to meet you, Lynne.”

“The name’s Kaname Date of Tokyo, Japan’s Metropolitan Police Department.” [He held out his hand to her. At this point, saying the name ‘Kaname Date’ felt natural for him, so he was able to say it comfortably. But it was just an alias to him.] “I’m just going to be here for a few months, but I already look forward to working with you. Are you assigned to any specific division?”

Oh gods, he was handsome. But he was probably much older than her. Still, Lynne loved making new friends! So she took his hand with aa gleeful smile as he introduced himself.

“Nice to meet you, Date! Nice to meet you!” 

“Oh, so you came from Tokyo? That’s really cool! Was it nice there? I’ve always wanted to go there someday.”
