Death on my mind, like never before.
I can see resentment growing in your heart, and it does nothing but tear me apart.
The Quran, verse 21:87

“Being a woman in today’s world must be hard. So much is expected of you and everyone is on your case. Doomed if you work, and doomed if you stay home. Told how to dress, and it’s never good enough. It must be really tough! Remember, Allah created you perfectly and if you work on perfecting your relationship with Him, there lies your happiness.”
— Muhammad Ibn Faqih

“Aa chal ke tujhe main le ke chalu,
Ik aise gagan ke tale,
Jahan ghum bhee na ho, aansoo bhi na ho
Bas pyar hi pyar pale.”
Come, let me take you
Under such a sky,
Where there is no sorrow or tears,
Where love and only love lives.
~Krishore Kumar
As a newly married woman, my greatest struggle this Ramadan is going by each and every day without missing my family.
To all the unmarried sisters, embrace the chaotic mornings your parents spend waking you up for suhoor. Appreciate the carefully prepared meals your mother leaves for you on the table. Scrub each dish as if it were your last. Enjoy the unnecessary immense amount of quality time you spend together as a family in Ramadan. Cherish the few minutes you spend helping your mother prepare for iftar while you complain about your brother doing nothing. Savor each step you take as you walk to the masjid to pray taraweh together, as a family. You never know what you have, till it’s gone.
When lemony snicket said “i will love you as misfortune loves orphans, as fire loves innocence and as justice loves to sit and watch while everything goes wrong. i will love you until all the codes and hearts have been broken and until every anagram and egg has been unscrambled. i will love you as we grow older, which has just happened, and has happened again, and happened several days ago, continuously, and then several years before that, and will continue to happen as the spinning hands of every clock and the flipping pages of every calendar mark the passage of time. i will love you as we find ourselves farther and farther from one another, where once we were so close that we could slip the curved straw, and the long, slender spoon, between our lips and fingers respectively. i will love you if you don’t marry me. i will love you if you marry someone else, and i will love you if you have a child, and i will love you if you have two children, or three children, or even more, although I personally think three is plenty, and i will love you if you never marry at all, and never have children, and spend your years wishing you had married me after all, and I must say that on late, cold nights i prefer this scenario out of all the scenarios i have mentioned. that, beatrice, is how i will love you even as the world goes on its wicked way”
My heart resonates so much with this </3
وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّكُمْ مُلَاقُوهُ

“Just how many times did you tell yourself “it’s okay, I can take it” while being aware that the same thing done to anyone else would be cruel and hurtful, but it was different for you, because you were used to it, and that made it okay?”
— And then they call you “too sensitive”.

I’m only living because I can’t die
I think about this more often than I should
Imagine that you’re shopping with someone you love. No, not just someone you love. Someone you’re madly in love with. Now suppose that this person picks out a gift for you in a particular color and style. How would you feel about that gift? Chances are you’ll cherish it simply because of who gave it to you, simply because of who picked it out for you. There are things, events, people in your life that Allah has picked out for you. Are you pleased with His choice? Do we not love the gift simply because of who picked it out? You will know you really love someone, when you love anything that comes from them—no matter what it is. And you will love their gift, not for any quality in the gift itself—but only for who it came from.

And each encounter we shared, my heart yearned to stay a little longer for it already began to miss you.

No Looking Back...
I’ve found my true happiness. And I am no longer looking back.
