A Job is A Job
A job and a lifestyle for me. I always knew I wanted to work with children since I was really little. I thought I wanted to work in nursing, specifically pediatrics. I even went to a career center for two years to become an LPN. It was during the last two years of high school. It was free, to an extent. Still had school fees, but it wasn’t the amount that you would pay for college. It took two years to figure out I don't want to be a nurse.Â
My first job was a place called Acres of Fun. A mom and pop place in a small town. This is a place is a family entertainment arena. There is go-karts, bumper boats, miniature golf, batting cages, laser tag, indoor playground, arcade, and roller skating rink. I started there in 2014, and it definitely wasn't easy. The “newbies” had to walk around in circles in the “play zone” area. We had to make sure the kids were following the rules and are safe. I built up my career starting from the bottom. I eventually was able to do everything except go-karts and manage.
Bringing me to realize what I am passionate about. As the years grew that I was working at Acres of Fun, so did the passion for this industry. I love all the regulars I got to meet, I love how confident I have become because of my first job.Â
My dad is my hero, and my body guard. And this picture is too funny not to share!
First Post
Not everyone will have the same experiences in life. no one in this world will have the same outlook on life. That is why I want to start this blog. I want to share with the world my life, my experiences, and my ways of dealing with change. Â
My life as a child all the way until I was about 17 or 18 seemed rough. My parents divorced in 2009. I was around 10 years old. Before then my parents fought constantly. My mom would take my two other sisters and me to a shelter in the middle of the night, even though there was no real danger to us. After my parents divorced it was hard to be the oldest female living in the house. I was in charge of my younger sisters; I had to act like an adult, a mom, at age 11. My dad wasn’t the easiest person to talk to about girl things. He didn't understand that having a period meant mood swings and for me very painful cramping. He thought I was exaggerating. I started to rebel. Sneaking out of my house and hanging out with friends. Drinking underage, typical rebellious teenage phase.
When I got my first job, I matured more. I soon got my license and was able to make more money. My dad and I had a better relationship. My mom still was dealing with her own issues, but we have a good relationship. Maturity, age, and the relationships between your parents go hand in hand. When I was 13 I thought my father was stupid and didn't know anything. At age 19, my father is my hero. He kept a roof over our heads, food in my stomach, and provided us with luxuries. Cable, yearly vacations, and a boat; those are not what others can afford or have in their lives. I am truly grateful.Â
This is only my first post. When I have more posts, Ill be open to questions about my life. You can ask me questions about anything. If you would like me to go more in-depth about a topic.Â
