雨の日
It’s a Rainy Day
I love horror and stories that explore queerness in allegories, and there just really isn't media that explores asexuality in those deep ways. I truly am happy to see any ace rep at all, but an occasional throwaway line about being ace or the creator confirmed in it a tweet/interview!!! Doesn't resonate with me. Because that's not my experience. My asexual identity is not a throwaway line or a background trait. It's a huge fucking part of my life.
Asexuality is something I feel so deeply and it's impacted my life in huge ways (often negative), and I need media that captures those huge feelings ya know? I read an article or smth recently where it was singing praises about some character that's asexual but their orientation isn't their whole identity or the main focus, and that's great! But for many people it is a huge deal! And I just feel like that's not all that groundbreaking for an asexual character, when thats also every asexual character ever, just one small little sidenote that won't be explored much.
And assuming its chill for me to talk about my own personal hatred of sex...as a sex repulsed ace whos experienced SA, sex is not a neutral thing to me. To me, sex is horrifying, not just "ew gross", but something I can never experience safely. And I cant stop thinking about a horror story that explores those feelings of being a sex repulsed suevivor in such a sexualized world. Experiences of someone that where others see a beautiful or desirable physical act, they see body horror. What others see as the ultimate declaration of trust and intimacy, they can only feel a deep violation.
I want more ace stories where the asexuality IS deeply embedded in the plot. And yeah, I want body horror that captures how I feel about sex, but whatever

Late pika studying. She'll have to turn on a light soon
Posts where people complain about others not liking kids being annoying in public piss me off so much. “Ooh you’re so mean and evil, you think kids and mothers shouldn’t exist in public”. I think parents should take responsibility for their children and make a fucking effort to not let them bother other people. You had them, I didn’t. Don’t make it my responsibility to raise them.
And it’s especially hypocritical when they say people who get overwhelmed by children should “learn to deal with it”, because it’s a not so subtle way of telling disabled people they should remove themselves from public
the existence of uncanny valley would suggest there is also a canny mountain

May be an unpopular take idk the demographics of this website but it is 110% reasonable for people to want cafes or stores or spaces that, at least some of the time, don't have young children, dogs or other pets, or erratic and loud behavior. I know this isn't possible or practical in some spaces but absolutely is in optional places like restaurants. Obviously children deserve spaces where they can interact but people who are easily stressed out or annoyed or overstimulated also deserve to exist in society actually.

I think people should be allowed to bitch about how misbehaving kids are annoying in public and their desire to not have to deal with them on a day out without people acting like it’s a crime against children and mothers.
“But they have a right to be in public!” So do I. Don’t interfere with that by making a public space unpleasant for everyone else.
“They’re just kids, they have to be in public to learn how to behave in public!” And some parents are not teaching their children how to behave and actively encourage bad behavior. That’s the issue, that’s why people get annoyed. They won’t learn if you never enforce proper behavior.
And parents, think of the fucking workers who can’t leave when your kids are screaming and running and have to clean up their messes. People deserve to be able to make a living without being forced to smile while dealing with your kids cause problems. Think of the disabled people who have to deal with your kids running in the way of their mobility devices and the people who get overwhelmed by your kids screaming.
Mothers, you are not being oppressed by people thinking your kids are annoying. You are not being banned from public life, you are pushing others out by not reining in your kids. Don’t talk about community and social contracts when you don’t consider the needs of others.
