I started roleplaying when I was like... 15/16, and stopped doing it for a while after I turned 23 and now I'm back to it, except I'm doing it over here instead of whatsapp (oh the trials and tribulations)

I played d&d like... Once, unforch :( I really enjoyed the session, so what I know is mostly from watching Legends of Avantris

also, yes i am still roleplaying!! or well, trying to get back into lmao. i started back when i was 10?11? man, i don't even remember now, it's been like 16 years (oh my god, 16 years). started on omegle / kik, then moved to instagram and quotev, then i did little roleplay chats on tumblr (god, what a time to be alive in 2016-2018), then moved back to quotev and when groups died there, i moved to forums and discord! after my recent break, i'm on discord and the iwaku forum :D i love meeting new roleplayers so hiya!!

"just the check, please."

sylus's low voice makes you perk up from where you're eating the last bites of your dessert. mischief bubbles in your chest. you set down your fork and start rummaging through your bag.

"what are you doing?" sylus asks, eyebrow arching.

you can practically hear his thoughts. he's definitely wondering why you've decided to look through your bag after he asked for the check. the two of you have had this conversation many times before. he'll pay for any and all of your dates, regardless if you're planning to use the card he had given you.

you give him an innocuous smile. "just looking for my phone." you casually excuse yourself. sylus easily lets his suspicions go, especially since the waiter has arrived with the check.

you've seen videos of people handing their partner's cash or their card to see their reactions. even though you know how sylus would react, you would never pass up the chance to prank him. so, as you grab your phone, you also grab your personal credit card, keeping the card hidden in your hand.

taking out his wallet, sylus gives a cursory glance at the receipt, and you make your move.

with the low lights of the restaurant, all you can see is sylus's amused smirk as your hand scoots over towards him. you lift your hand and beneath it is your credit card. you watch, amused, as sylus's smirk falls. without even looking away from the receipt book, he flicks the card back towards you. you let out a gasping laugh at his actions.

sylus places his card in the book, closes it, and hands it to the waiter. he turns back towards you and playfully tsks at you.

"you know better, darling." his low drawl combined with the amusement in his red eyes makes you laugh a little harder.

"do i?" you crone out, fluttering your eyelashes playfully.

"even if you don't—" sylus's eyes go half-lidded a bit. "—i can certainly teach you once more."

author's note. inspired by an old piece i wrote back in 2021 for an old fandom. if you know, you know. if you don't, well LMAO. note, they won't match with their canon tropes because where's the fun in that?? (wrote the thing—hate the fact i added this limit because in another life is one of my favorite tropes. also i'll write full pieces for these eventually. caleb's got me teehee-ing).

XAVIER as the not actually unrequited love trope.

you're in love with each other. he thinks you'd never give him a chance; you think he's too good to be with someone like you. a match made in misunderstandings. after days watching the other while they aren't looking and nights lamenting over it, a too close call has one of you crying over the other's body.

ZAYNE as the mutual pinning trope.

loving you is the easiest, most natural thing he has ever done; loving him is like breathing air, wholly unconscious. everyone and their mothers know that the two of you are in love. yet nothing is said, leaving the both of you feeling bereft until it eventually implodes on your face.

RAFAYEL as the fake relationship trope.

he needs a date for a reunion, you need a date to get back at your ex. it's a match made in heaven. he's the one who brings up the offer—you're the one, whose eyes soften whenever he appears in front of you. however, fake dating has never led to anything, right?

SYLUS as the marriage pact trope

"if you're not married by 30, we'll just marry each other." a silly promise that two friends made while drunk during a house party. years later, he's nearing 30 and the promise is suddenly relevant. there's a reason why he hasn't had a serious relationship since that night.

CALEB as the friends with benefits trope.

the two of you have been friends for years. after multiple failed relationships on both sides, one of you brings up the concept of a friends with benefits relationship. the other easily agrees. the one rule? don't fall in love. too bad the heart doesn't often follow the brain.

rafayel suddenly reaches over and squishes your cheeks between his palms, molding your face into a proper little fish pout. his favorite—one he so adores. his eyes sparkle with equal parts mischief and love, as he leans in, pressing a series of soft, fluttering kisses on your puckered lips.

he grins, entirely too pleased with himself as you glare up at him from between his hands. “my beautiful guppy,” he coos, utterly smitten even in his teasing.

you grunt in protest and lightly thump your fist against his side. he lets out an exaggerated grunt and staggers back as if you’d struck him down with the force of ten suns—a theatrical display for a tap that barely had any force to it.

your face is released at last and you waste no time retaliating, pressing rapid-fire kisses onto his cheek.
