goin for the funniest guy ever award (Â´Îľď˝ )âĄ
why is it that when im reading fanfic i feel like i have a fairly good metric for if something is characterized accurately but when im trying to write suddenly its like ive never seen this character in my life. would he say that. would he fucking say that. suddenly i have no idea
really losing my patience for any 'feminist' statement to the tune of 'we need feminism because women fill a fundamentally different and necessary role than men and will be better at doing x y or z'. like actually i think we need feminism because it is an unbearable death of the spirit by inches to exist in a world where you are not seen as a fully realized human being because of a single cultural determination, and because a world that enshrines such things creates systems that are fundamentally sick to the core

Yeah tell me more about how you live near a forest and don't have any tea.
Or how a malnourished 19 y.o. carried a dear in full storm through this forest.
Tell me how an 11 y.o.(max17) is guilty for someone else piercing his fiancĂŠe's uterus Jesus style.
Or how ...*THE UNIVERSE PUT A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF WORDS ALLOWED TO BE USED IN THIS POST BECAUSE THERE IS A RISK IT WILL TEND TO INFINITY*
Tamlin was never actually truly allied with Hybern.
You can hate tamlin all you want but it is literally canon he was never actually working w Hybern. He was ALWAYS using him and playing spy. Here is 3 different passages from canon explaining this.
Lucien-âWe were backed into a corner with no options. None. It was either go to war with the Night Court and Hybern, or ally with Hybern, let them try to stir up trouble, and then use that alliance to our own advantage further down the road.â
Tamlin-The mocking, hateful gleam faded into granite resolve. âI stand against Hybern.â âProve it,â Helion goaded. Tamlin lifted his hand, and a stack of papers appeared on the little table beside his chair. âCharts of armies, ammunition, caches of faebane ⌠Everything carefully gleaned these months.â
Feyre-Tamlin. His actions would cover Jurianâs betrayal. I had no doubt Tamlin hadnât gone back to Hybernâs army after the meeting to betray usâbut to play spy. Though after last night ⌠it was unlikely heâd get close to Hybern again. Not when the king himself had witnessed everything.
And before anyone brings up the sistersâŚ. Tamlin had nothing to do w that. Here is Hybern the villian himself even saying itâŚ.
The king nodded. âWhy did you think I asked my dear friend Ianthe to see who Feyre Archeron would appreciate having with her for eternity?â Even as horror filled my ears with roaring silence, I glanced at the queens, the question no doubt written on my face. The king explained, âOh, I asked them first. They deemed it too ⌠uncouth to betray two young, misguided women. Ianthe had no such qualms. Consider it my wedding present for you both,â he added to Tamlin. But Tamlinâs face tightened. âWhat?â The king cocked his head, savoring every word. âI think the High Priestess was waiting until your return to tell youâ
Feyre-I was going to vomit. Tamlin, to his credit, looked like he might, too. Lucienâs face had slackened. âShe sold outâshe sold out Feyreâs family. To you.â I had told Ianthe everything about my sisters. She had asked. Asked who they were, where they lived. And I had been so stupid, so broken ⌠I had fed her every detail.
Rhysand-But Ianthe betrayed Tamlinâtold the king where to find Feyreâs sisters. So the king had Feyreâs sisters brought with the queensâto prove he could make them immortal. He put them in the Cauldron
Iâm so tired of these arguments. 3 different characters explain in direct canon Tamlin was a spy. He wasnât actually working w Hybern. Hate him all you want for how he treated feyre but yall just try to villianize him in every situation.

So we are all in agreement that all of the Vanserraâs and Helion know who Lucienâs real father is right? Because it seems like an open secret that Rhys and Feyre are like the last people to deduce.
I mean why else would Eris help the black sheep brother escape? Eris has some redeeming qualities compared to Beron sure but he is ultimately self serving. I can only see his soft spot for Lucien making sense if he knows that Lucien is not at all a threat because heâs actually heir to entirely different high lord.
Also Helion is very intelligent and can cut through bullshit like jello, thereâs no way he doesnât know it either. He probably just ultimately respected that LoA made the decision to keep it a secret (even though everyone knows but just doesnât acknowledge it) and he knows itâs probably safer for her too.
Anyway, Iâm always thinking of you, my beautiful ginger king, Lucien. You deserve so much more than what SJM has given you.

I'm going to be insane and discuss the rhysand/amarantha situation bc I do not think it is as easy as many people say. There's a three layer structure of coercive situations and rhysand has had varying amounts of free will in each.
First, we have the amarantha taking everyone's powers and ruling over all of prythian. This is the coercive state of the world in book 1, none of the High Lords entered it willingly, they are now all forced to do as amarantha asks to a certain extent. This is comparable to every humans relationship to the state, where we do not choose the structure of our government necessarily and have little ability to personally change it, but are beholden to the state's laws simply by existing in it. Amarantha is just an especially cruel head of state.
The second layer is Rhysand as Amarantha's whore/crony. This is a position he willingly took and acted out, albeit in the coercive context of her being a dictator. That context reduces his blame in all the evil acts he did for her and does narrow the amount of free will he is able to exercise, but he is not completely robbed of his volition. Proof for this is all the other High Lords not becoming cronies and Tamlin resisting her advances. This is the way people act within the state. We are all beholden to its rules, but we are not forced to become police officers. That career choice is at least to an extent an expression of free will at least in the weight we assign to different interests.
The third layer is relevant for every single sexual encounter between amarantha and rhysand. While he agreed to this relationship, we must assume from his narration that he did not agree to specific encounters or methods of amarantha's but did at least belligerently agree to others. This is the private relationship between amarantha and rhysand, of which we know the least, but is the one where Rhysand's ability to exercise free will was fully taken.
And I won't hear that I'm downplaying Rhysand's trauma or rape, I only want to point out the ways in which these different areas and levels of coercion interact. I don't think Rhysand agreeing to some relationship with amarantha is denying his rape, bc sexual assault of all kinds can and does occur in relationships. Additionally the insistence that rhysand was always forced and never acting on at least partial volition is both reductive of his character by discounting the choices he makes (such as valuing velaris over his own bodily autonomy) and pushes the harmful idea of a perfect victim, that needs Rhysand to never have any agency or else victimhood is suspect.
They could never make me hate you Eris Vanserra
