I’ve been seeing a few Eluciens saying that Azriel is acting like an incel and I wanted to address it because I think it needs to be said.

First off, no Azriel is not an incel.

Has he done things to piss me off? YES

Do I still love him? YES

Now let me explain why:

I genuinely believe after reading ACOSF & Azriels Bonus Chapter than Sarah was trying to show us what a toxic relationship (Elriel) looks like VS what a healthy relationship looks like (Gwynriel).

Azriel and Elain are toxic for eachother, in my opinion. Azriel says that Elain shouldn’t hunt for the Dread Trove (while Elain wasn’t in the room) in ACOSF, when Elain specifically stated she wanted to. This is toxic because it’s taking away Elain’s choice. A choice she specifically stated she wanted to do.

In the bonus chapter, Elain almost kisses Azriel with her mate (who she hasn’t rejected) in the same house. This is toxic of Elain. And YES it is toxic of Elain. It’s messy and toxic. You guys can fight me on this, but I stand by my statement. Now if she had already rejected Lucien / the mate bond then that would be a different story. But she has chosen to NOT reject the mate bond as of now, so yeah it’s toxic.

There’s actually multiple canon examples that I could give for why I think Azriel and Elain are toxic for eachother but those are the main two.

Now let’s talk about how Azriel interacts with Gwyn.

Azriel is very encouraging and respectful towards Gwyn. This is canon. It’s shown throughout ACOSF and Azriels bonus chapter.

Plus the BANTER between them in the bonus chapter is PERFECT 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻. And to top that all off Gwyn and Azriel are actually equals. (Sarah has stated all her endgame couples have banter and are equals)

This is why I think Azriel and Gwyn are healthy together. They bring out the best in eachother. When I read Azriel’s scene with Gwyn in his bonus chapter I immediately fell in love with Azriel again. I was smiling while reading their banter. Azriel is his authentic self with Gwyn. That’s why I ship them. Plus I think Sarah made it obvious that they are mates.
