i think we as a society need to start accepting that fictional love stories need to be a bit toxic for us to go insane over themโฆ like, sometimes you kinda need the two parties to be obsessed with each other and fucked up and willing to bring each other back from the dead instead of moving on and go to therapy iโm sorry๐
oh, looks like my planeโs finally arrivingโฆ

Okay, so youโve been called smart all your life. As a kid, you were one of the smartest in your class. Maybe you could read at a much higher level than your peers, or you could fly through multiplication drills like they were nothing. Then, you get to high school and suddenly youโre surrounded by lots of people who were โgifted kidsโ. None of what made you โspecialโ seems all that important now. Your work is actually challenging, and itโs actually requiring effort.
If youโre experiencing this, just know that so many students have gone through the same thing. Maybe it happens in high school, maybe college. But a lot of us who were considered gifted as kids suddenly run into this and it challenges our entire identity. It can be paralyzing, but itโs 100% possible to overcome it and succeed! Iโve compiled a few tips for ex-gifted kids dealing with impostor syndrome and self-doubt. Iโm not a therapist, psychologist, or any sort of education expert. Iโm just speaking to my own experiences, and I welcome any input from others who have insight into this as well!
1. Understand that working hard does not mean you arenโt intelligent. If something doesnโt come naturally to you, thatโs not a reason to give up. Believing that people can do things โjust because they were born with a talent for itโ is only going to hurt you. Itโs not true! People may have natural aptitudes for things, but hard work is involved even for the smartest or most talented people. You are capable of learning anything, and you donโt have to be โgood at itโ right away to do so.
2. Comparison will kill you. You are your only competition. Focusing on how you rank with other students, and comparing yourself to your classmates is going to exhaust you. By focusing on others, you canโt put your full energy into focusing on your work and yourself. You belong. Even if you struggle with your work, you belong. Focus on your own self-improvement and doing your best.
3. Donโt focus on the goal, focus on your current actions. If youโre always thinking about the future, and about whether youโll get into that school or that program or win that award or get that scholarship, youโre not using that time to get work done. Donโt worry about college applications, just do your homework. Focus on what you are doing now to reach your goals so you can apply to schools with confidence later.
4. Your grades may not reflect intelligence, but they do reflect work ethic. Donโt let others convince you that grades mean nothing. They sure as hell mean a lot to colleges, and thinking that you should โreject the current education systemโ is not going to harm anyone but yourself. If you donโt feel like youโre learning anything in your high school classes, thatโs all the more reason to want to get into a university that will challenge you. If you put effort into your work, it will not let you down. Your hard work will be reflected on your transcript. Donโt lose focus.
5. Talk to someone. Let people know if youโre struggling. It can be hard to feel like you arenโt allowed to identify as โsmartโ or to feel pressure to constantly compete and improve. I went to a highly competitive high school that pushed kids to cope in dangerous ways. This is not healthy and not okay. If youโre feeling overwhelmed you need to find healthy coping mechanisms. Speak with someone you trust and donโt let yourself spiral. Donโt try to self medicate. Your well being is always more important than your grades. Period.
6. Enjoy yourself. School may seem like hell, and you may feel like it will never end and youโll always be stressed and worried. But high school is only four years, and you can do things during that time that you probably wonโt ever again. Take advantage of things that seem fun, even if people think theyโre nerdy or weird. Try and remind yourself that youโre lucky to have your education and you have the power to do great things with it. Donโt lose sight of your own ability and your bright future!

how hard is it to sit here again after nearly 7 months out of school
ok kids, sleep is v important and we hardly ever get enough of it these days so listen up and jot down some notes.
donโt study while youโre sleepy.
go get some shut-eye. a 30 minute nap at most, youโre gonna feel really refreshed, trust me.ย
if youโre studying late at night. just stop. go sleep. set your alarm at 4am and do your work in the morning. itโs way better to feel energized while youโre studying than feel like a zombie.
worst case scenario, youโre desperate for time, go get some coffee, and down it right before you take a 20 minutes nap. once the 20-minute is up, the caffeine will officially enter your system and youโll be good to go for at least 2 hours.
pay your sleep debt.
make up for lost time and hibernate in your bed once you get the chance, especially during the weekends. youโll be so thankful is2g and youโll be recharged and rebooted for the next week or so.
take every chance and nap whenever you have time on your hands. life is extremely fast-paced and you will be thankful you spent that 1 hour getting some zzzโs instead of scrolling through social media when you get a new assignmemt, trust me.
hit your hours every night
whatever you do to make up for the nights you burned the midnight oil, the best way is still to get your much-needed hours of sleep every night. just put down the phone and burrow into your blanket, you wonโt be complaining about not getting the chance to stalk taylor swift when you try to hit snooze next morning. [yes i know what yโall are up to every night]
sprinkle a bit of lavender essential oil, set the room to the right temperature, wear your most comfortable pjโs, convince yourself that youโll have the needed energy to face your history assignment when you wake up. stop the nerves and calm yourself so you wonโt waste time counting sheep for hours trying to fall asleep.
work before the sun comes out
itโs so much better to just go to bed early at night and wake up early in the morning to do work. ditch your 12 - 7 sleep schedule for a new 9 - 4 one. working in the early morning is so much more beneficial and you should at least try it out once or twice to really experience how much better it is.
i know this isnโt really a lot but hereโs my mini stash of tips anyway! i hope iโm able to help some of you out! yโall can drop ur requests hereย and see more of my tips here.

What are tell-tale signs you are an INFJ?
19 Signs That Youโre an INFJ
1. From a young age, you felt different from the people around you
When you were young, you had plenty of friends but you never felt like you truly fit in. Sometimes you faked being more like them so they would accept you, but deep inside you felt that itโs not right.
2. You want to know whatโs really going on in peopleโs lives
Not just trivial stuff like what they did this weekend or what they bought on their latest shopping trip. You want to dig deep and get at the things that no one else sees. What does the person in front of youย reallyย think? How does this personย reallyย feel? The fake facade they put up for other people doesnโt fool you.
3. Plans
You feel more comfortable having a loose plan for things than you do completely winging it.
4. Youโre social, but you are not really social
You can be both incredibly shy, quiet, and withdrawn, as well as charming, fun, and hilarious. Itโs all about the situation, your mood, and energy levels, and most important, the people youโre with.
5. How you handle problems
When someone comes to you with a problem, you usually donโt give them advice or your opinion unless they ask. Instead, you ask them questions to help them better understand the situation and their own feelings about it. Sometimes you tell a story of a time when something similar happened to you, in the hope that theyโll draw their own lesson. You feel like you can usually see the path they should take, but you donโt want them to do it just because you told them to. You want it to be their decision.
6. There are limits to your introversion
You are an introvert and you like alone time, but you canโt be alone for too long. Eventually you need to reunite with your people. โYour peopleโ are a handful of good friends who truly get you. It can be just one person as well. Deep conversations with these people are priceless, and hanging out with them can actually boost your energy.
7. The door slam
Youโve been known to suddenly cut people out of your life when theyโve hurt you one too many times. Itโs not that you enjoy cutting people out, rather, you do this simply to protect yourself. Even though you may look like you have it together on the outside, youโre extremely sensitive inwardly, and youโre especially sensitive to other peopleโs words and actions.
8. You can be a people-pleaser
Sometimes you try so hard to make other people happy that you forget to make yourself happy.
9. Empathy
You often feel like you see precisely what someone else is feeling, and you believe you know what they need deep down. Youโre not always right, but you tend to be more perceptive than most.
10. You have a destiny
You feel like youโre destined for so much more than just dragging yourself to your 9-5 job to pay the bills. You want to help people and change the world & not just get a paycheck. The problem is you either donโt know what your โglorious purposeโ is, or you have an inkling, but you donโt know how to achieve it.
11. Always striving
You almost always have this sinking feeling like you could be doing better with your life. This results in you constantly have secret self-improvement projects going on, like learning how to cook healthy meals, setting better boundaries, or getting better at articulating yourself. Sometimes you push yourself too hard as you attempt to achieve your โperfectโ life.
12. Your defence mechanism
Sometimes you turn to people-pleasing to protect yourself. Youโre sensitive, so you can get really bothered when someone criticizes you or is disappointed in you. They canโt criticize you if you make them happy.
13. You sense things
You often immediately sense the mood of a room when you walk into it. Likewise, you often absorb the feelings of the people around you. If theyโre excited, you get excited. If theyโre anxious, you get anxious, too. You tend to gravitate toward calm, centered people so you donโt have to deal with as much emotional garbage.
14. Nothing but class
Youโre drawn to high-quality things, like good food, nice clothes, and anything else that has good craftsmanship. As much as you hate to admit it, the way things look is important to you. You like being surrounded by beauty, and you tend to have sophisticated, refined tastes. But youโre a minimalist at heart. Youโd rather have one or two really nice shirts than ten mediocre ones.
15. Your secret feelings
You care deeply about the people in your life, but theyโll probably never know just how much you care, because you keep your feelings mostly to yourself. You can have trouble articulating your emotions, even though you feel them intensely.
16. You care a lot
Youโre usually thoughtful, conscientious, and considerate. Other people who are not as conscientious can seem callous and even cruel.
17. Books
You love learning, especially when it comes to psychology, self-improvement, spirituality, and certain sciences.
18. Your head is way beyond the clouds
When everyone else is gossiping, discussing celebs, or talking about other trivial things, you often find yourself thinking about outer space, time travel, human nature, the meaning of life, and other more epic topics like entrepreneurship. You rarely try to steer the conversation in that direction, though, because you donโt think other people will be interested.
19. You didnโt ask to be like this
Other people see you as wise, insightful, and almost spiritual. They often come to you for advice and emotional support. You relish your role as the โwise one,โ and you like being needed. But sometimes it becomes too much. Youโre an introvert, for crying out loud, and sometimes you just wish everyone would solve their own problems and leave you alone for a while.
