I feel like this is just attack on poor people or people whose parents didnât have time to cook
Definitely an attack on poor people.
Time, money, and transportation all go into what people eat.
If I live in a place with no grocery store, I donât always have the time to travel to an actual grocery store to buy perishable like milk, fresh veggies and fruits, fresh meat ect. For like 6 months my mom didnât have a car, the nearest store was by bus, like 20 mins one way. But doing that with 4 kids and groceries, out of question.
When buying fresh food money is a big factor from experience. Now I am able to go to the store every two days to get fresh fruit if I want, I have a place to store it and I have the money. That wasnât always the situation growing up.
But I guess itâs easier to judge someone for trying their best to feed their kid. Sorry my kid isnât in a plant base diet that require $50 for one pack lunch.
It didnât post my full reply cause tumblr is trash.
The $50 for a pack lunch sorry if I didnât make the exaggeration clear, I know itâs hard for some to pick up on sarcasm đ. But what I said still stands.
Okay so forgive me if Iâm a bit salty but I know what itâs like to grow up dirt poor. Iâve teetered the line of poverty for my entire childhood and adult life. I know first hand how hard it is to buy food inexpensively and strategically, especially when you donât have reliable transportation. My parents had me and my brothers live on this crap. Lunchables, kid cuisine, string cheese, soda, chocolate milk, frozen pizza, Mac n cheese, etc. This food is crap. It doesnât fit the nutritional value growing children (or adults) need. Itâs just crap. And not only is it crap, itâs expensive crap. Well, more expensive than buying real, nutritious food.
Lunchables range from $2-$3 per lunch
Lunch meat ham ranges from $3-$4 per package
Stringcheese ranges from $3-$13 dollars
Soda is $6 per pack
Nesquick is $1.49 per bottle
Kraft Mac n cheese is about 1.69 per cup
Torinoâs pizza is $1.36 per pizza
None of these can meet the nutrition children need. All of them have excess sugars, or fats, or sodium.. they donât even last that long. You go through a pizza and thatâs $1.39 gone. I lived on this growing up, and I was lethargic and unenergized ALL THE TIME. The food made me sick, and tired and honestly nauseous at times.
Fruit and veggies (fresh and frozen) range from $3-8 dollars.
You can buy bags and boxes of pasta and rice worth more than several servings for $1 to $3 each.
Silk milk costs relatively the same amount if not a dollar or two more then dairy milk, and provides more calcium (which is what you buy milk for).
Beans cost a dollar or less a can/bag.
Sliced bread costs $1-$3 a loaf..
You can make 5-10 sandwiches for maybe $6-$7 dollars if you plan things right. Make meals for the whole family for a fraction of what 4 or so lunchables would cost.
You can buy all the options Iâve provided at the 99 cents store or other âsale storesâ.
It costs less to eat this way, and it provides actual nutrition and substance. I mean, even if you wanted to continue to eat meat and dairy, thereâs cheaper and healthier alternatives.
The difference here is that you canât just stick these in a microwave and have it done in 2 seconds, it takes time to cook. It takes some time prep before hand. And I realize that might be difficult to those who genuinely donât have a lot of time or energy bc of poverty in the first place, I get it. But some of these things take 10 minutes tops to prepare. And teaching your kids from an early age how to cook and help you prep which is helpful for you and them. They can learn how to feed themselves if you donât have the energy, and they get to learn an essential life skill. My point here being, donât make this a âpoor peopleâ thing. We have options. There is affordable nutritious food to get your children, and I wish my parents knew that while I was growing up.
Non-Vegan: NOT EVERYONE CAN GO VEGAN DONâT BE ABLEIST!!!!!!
Vegan: youâre totally right. Some people canât and I can respect them. Can you go vegan though?
Non-Vegan: âŚâŚâŚ.nOt EvEryoNe CAn Go vEGaN!!!!!
So many of the âproblems with veganismâ are actually just issues caused by being a vegan in a non-vegan world. If we had the public will to develop identical meat imitations which are also accessible then we could absolutely do it, if we had support we could subsidise fresh fruits and vegetables instead of junk food, and eating vegan would be far easier for people with mental/physical health issues if there were more options designed for them. Given the fact that our current system doesnât adequately support these people either, how can anyone expect veganism to offer a perfect solution for all people in all contexts?
Veganism doesnât need to be a viable option for every person on Earth in order for it to be a viable option for you. The more vegans there are, the more normalised and therefore more accessible veganism becomes. If you have issues with veganism then help us work to resolve them, instead of using issues you donât even personally struggle with an tokenistic excuss to dismiss it out of hand just because not everyone can do it yet. The only relevant question is whether or not you can.

"It's rude :( you look like you're ignoring people :(" if ur not sure if I can hear you or not......... get my attention before you start talking? It's literally so easy to accommodate my needs if you just fucking try lmao
Neurotypicals can rb but don't clown
"theres a suicide crisis amongst border patrol enforcers" nice
We shouldn't be celebrating something like this, we should be asking how we can contribute.
There is no Democrat path to victory in trying to regain Trump voters.

Why Iâm No Longer Veganâ˘
This was the best vegan youtube vid Iâve ever seen.
Some key points to take away:
-It is not a diet, it is a lifestyle.
-Human Rights, Environmental protection, and Animal Rights all intersect within this movement. Some like to conveniently forget that and I am looking at You Peta, and You random fake-woke-tumblrite who thinks we care more about..I donât fucking know..whales, than people. Just because we donât want to pay people to kill things intentionally, doesnât mean we desire for people to die instead. Where did this idea come from?
-Itâs not about eating local organic, or forgetting about food deserts. Itâs demanding a change in legislation so that people who are lower on the income status in america donât have to eat shit thatâs killing them, and of course, Trying Not To Actively Fund Industries That Quite Literally Place These Communities In Close Proximity To Slaughterhouses And Cesspools Which Leads To Fatal Diseases.
-The Problem is not 8% of the worldâs population being responsible for all food problems due to avocado and quinoa consumption. It is Capitalism. Veganism is an Anti-Capitalist Movement.
-No Veganism is not cruelty free, as (due to living in a capitalist society) we all contribute to someoneâs suffering. However An Appeal to futility is doing Jack shit for anyone. Not the people, Not the Children, Not yourself. Get off your ass and do something any fuckin thing so that youâre Actually prepared for âLe Revolutionâ you seem to love talking about. The revolution will not be televised, you are the fucking Revolution. Take some personal responsibility, and Try to lessen your personal impact. Give a fuck because itâs the right thing to do.
-Iâve explained beforehand that eating vegan is the first step, once there is a majority it will be easier to shift to the ethical sourcing of our products, as many vegans have been doing and are actively still working towards.
-Some indigenous tribes depend on hunting. You know what threatens these peopleâs livelihoods? Commercial Fishing, and Livestock Farming. If you care about them why would you actively participate in industries that starve them? Stay woke.
-Shitty Vegans exist. Racism, and Classism is present in the individual before they decide to eat plant-based. But donât get it twisted there are vegans of Every color, and socio-economic status. For fucks sake do not conveniently forget we exist in your attempts to trash talk veganism bc of this handful of fascist assholes. They are not representatives, they are hypocrites.
-No. It wonât solve every single problem you can think of. Can you imagine eating a can of beans with a side of rice doesnât stop global consumerism? False advertising.
However. It is a step in the right direction by doing Anything and Everything that you can.
>Voting for legislation to be passed so that people who are low-income can have access to foods that wonât lead to health problems and early death.
>Acknowledging the fact that you may not be able to help the children who work in the Cadmium mines, but you can choose not to eat products whose waste harm children right here on American soil.
>not contributing to Nestle (bc Iâll be damned if I give that company another dollar.)
>Learning to live without depending on government subsidized products. You canât fight a power who controls your food source. If you can grow your own food, you are no longer dependent on the enemy for it. Building survival skills are essential, and food is the first step.
>Actively choosing compassion when you can. The majority of us wouldnât kill an animal ourselves, so why pay for people (who suffer from ptsd, substance abuse, and often become domestic abusers because of this line of work) to kill it for us? Seeing the worth in every life is crucial in a world that sees worth in only a few. There is no reason to innact the same evil as our oppressors.
Take these steps to prepare yourself for The change you wish to see.

Sorry but when Keanu Reeves is out here doing The Most, giving away the majority of his money to the point where he just lives in a normal house with normal stuff because he understands that he doesnât need all of that money then how do you expect me to look at other famous people no matter how fun or nice they act and see them keeping the majority of that money and having multiple homes and outfits made out of diamonds and shit and say âits fine bc theyre nice/feminist/its in the name of Girl Power/etcâ? No one should have any of that while other humans are out here dying of poverty. No excuse I donât care who it is.Â
