Whatever else happens, whoever lives or dies, whoever comes back or not, I want Endgame to propel me out of my seat, arms raised as I and everyone else in the theater screams and shouts for joy. I want to see Mordor fall, the Death Star explode, Rudy carried off the field on his teammates’ shoulders, Ben Hur win the chariot race… I want Endgame to be listed with all those cinematic moments that touch our souls and lift our hearts and make us better people simply for having seen the heroes struggle and ultimately triumph. I want the payoff to be worth the tears.

Like damn, the man has been through so much.

I just keep telling myself, “If Tony Stark can fight Thanos in hand-to-hand combat, I can get my ass up to go to work.”

“If Tony Stark can fling a missile through a wormhole, I can tolerate work until I get a better job.”

“If Tony Stark can be Earth’s Best Defender despite his mental health issues, I can get through an anxiety-filled workday.”
