      vocals  cut  like  ice  along  her  skin   &.   suddenly  emerald  is  frozen  in  her  place   ,   standing  without  a  word  because  deep  down  she  knows  fox  is  right.  &.  she  fucking  hates  it.  scathing  gaze  of  ruby  hue  glances  away   ,   then  down  with  brows  furrowed   &.   sharpened  fangs  biting  into  the  fat  of  her  lower  lip.  cobra  knows  what  she’s  done  was  wrong   ,   inexcusable   ,   that  nothing  she  could  ever  say  nor  do  could  make  up  for  the  lives  ruined  all  those  moons  ago.  maybe  she  doesn’t  even  want  to  fully  repent  for  those  sins  to  those  she  barely  knows   ,   but  fox  . . .  she  still  cares   ,   even  if  she  doesn’t  want  to.  guilt  runs  thick  through  her  blood   ,   mixing  with  anger  that  emerald  pushes  away  with  all  her  might  before  mustering  up  the  strength  to  speak.   ❝ . . .  you  &.  i  both  know  i  was  never  cut  out  for  that  goody  two  shoes  crap. ❞  at  least  that’s  the  truth.  she’s  always  been  a  misfit   ,   a  troublemaker.   ❝ cinder  promised  me  everything   &.   i  believed  them.  power   ,   stable  shelter  —  i  never  had  any  of  that  back  home   ,   how  was  i  supposed  to  turn  that  down  ?! ❞  cinder  made  her  feel  wanted  for  the  first  time  in  a  very  long  time   ,   one  of  the  first  next  to  fox  that  is.  eyes  snap  shut   ,   squeeze   ,   another  hiss  under  her  breath  when  she  realizes  her  own  fatal  stupidity.   ❝ i  didn’t  want  to  hurt  people   ,   but  it  happened  ‘an  i  can’t  take  it  back. ❞  her  fingers  flex  that  that  of  a  beasts’  claws.  < you  weren’t  supposed  to  get  involved  like  that.  >
