"She always hangs around here," Sage tells him softly, letting go of his hand to instead sit on the concrete, the rough surface still holding some of its warmth from the sun, though the stars are already beginning to appear in the navy-colored sky.

Suna moves to kneel beside her, reaching out towards the shaggy cat in front of them, currently looking at him warily. Sage rubs her fingers together, speaking gently to the curious creature until she eventually takes a couple steps closer.

The two of them can't help their quiet laughter when the cat sniffs his fingers, and then immediately begins rubbing her cheeks against the spikes on his bracelet.

"I think we might have to take her home," Suna muses, just as the cat moves to rub against Sage's shin, purring audibly while her tail sways contentedly all the while.

it’s selfish of each of them to indulge the other’s affection yet they couldn’t be forced apart if they tried.

sometimes home isn’t a place, it’s a feeling, a person, a settling of your restless soul that allows your heavy eyes to close for long enough your body relaxes in tandem.
