And the award for silliest medieval coat of arms goes to… this pair of underpants, belonging to Lord Jan van Abbenbroeck in the Beyeren Armorial (1405)!

@Oldfrankishphil will appreciate the fact that the Van Abbenbroek family apparently misunderstood that the ‘broeck’ in their name did not mean ‘breeches’ but derives from Old Dutch bruoc, brōk ‘marshy land’.

Looks like the good people of Hensbroek made the same mistake…. :)
