i cant see mithrun angsting about the lifespan difference thing in the context of kbms at all bc frankly i think he has that long term suicidal person thing where you constantly just believe you are not going to live longer than another year for no reason in particular. if he doesnt die fighting monsters first i think the fact that he might actually for real outlive kabru hits him somewhere around the 30th anniversary mark. KABRU on the other hand would stress out about it enough for both of them in the meantime

Marcille by Falin's bedside

"You run faster than everyone else" is the payoff to Marcille's dream, and in a broader sense, a payoff to how all of her motivations are set up thus far. Just off panel is Laois realising what this means and recognising the phrasing, because it is the core ideal behind Marcille's inner workings, and his reaction here is the audiences. It's the final haunting piece to really make Marcille click.
If losing Falin within the events of the story are what set her fears so loose during it, then this panel is the catalyst for those fears fully forming. There's a reason Marcille still remembers it so clearly...
And in general, it's just a beautiful, heart-breaking panel. It made me stop with a cold shot of "oh" the first time I read it, and it's really stuck with me ever since. The composition, the emotion, the phrasing... It's all phenomenal and I really do think it's a panel just as important to Marcille's character as any of her dark magic or Dungeon Lord panels
