Observing internet behavior against my will.
Well, this was probably inevitable.
For those who know me exclusively through my work managing LemonSharkLab's social media presence, hello. Yes, I've made a personal blog as of August 3rd.
Before anyone asks: no, LemonSharkLab has not imploded. No, I have not disappeared. No, this is not some dramatic announcement. And no, there is not some hidden meaning behind the creation of this blog that requires a detective board and several pieces of red string.
The reality is much simpler.
While I am known publicly for helping manage LemonSharkLab's social media, I've been a friend and supporter of the DID system running LemonSharkLab for over 15 years. I've had the privilege of knowing them through many different stages of life, watching them grow, change, learn, and continue creating the things they love.
That being said, being involved with official social media management means there are plenty of thoughts, observations, and opinions that simply don't belong on an official account.
So, this blog exists as my personal space.
Here, I can talk about things that interest me, share my own thoughts, discuss internet culture, and occasionally express my complete disbelief at some of the things people manage to do online without it becoming an official LemonSharkLab statement.
Because, as it turns out, "person who manages a social media account" and "person who has their own opinions" are not mutually exclusive concepts.
Will some posts be sarcastic?
Probably.
Will some posts be me wondering how humanity survived this long with access to the internet?
Absolutely.
Will I continue being amazed by how confidently people make assumptions about strangers they've never actually met?
Unfortunately, yes.
Anyway, welcome to my little corner of the internet.
Please remember that following someone does not mean you know them, reading someone's posts does not make you an expert on their life, and a person is always more complicated than the version of them you see online.
A small housekeeping note: asks are open, but anonymous asks are not available. DMs are also limited to people I follow, because I would prefer to keep this blog a place for actual conversations rather than an open inbox for every random person on the internet.
I also want to clarify how I use Tumblr: I reblog posts far more often than I like them. This is intentional. Likes do not meaningfully contribute to Tumblr's algorithm in the same way reblogs do, so if I find something worth sharing, I will usually reblog it instead of simply pressing the like button and moving on.
Expect a variety of posts here. I may reblog posts discussing ableism and accessibility, posts explaining when certain behaviors or language cross into ableist territory, discussions about internet culture, disability advocacy, thoughtful commentary, educational resources, random bits of humor, nature photography, animals being strange, interesting facts, environmental topics, and anything else I find worth sharing.
In other words: this blog will be a mix of "important discussion," "things I think people should know," and "look at this cool plant/animal/fact I found."
There is, unfortunately, no guarantee that the musk deer profile picture reflects my ability to resist sharing every interesting thing I find.
