Friend: “Hey, I haven’t seen you in forever! how are you?”
me: “Fine, thanks.”
Lemony Snicket from outta nowhere: “Of course, in this case, ‘fine’ is only meant to reassure. She has never been less fine, nor was she ever fine in the first place. Here, the word ‘fine’ could be defined as ‘I am actually slowly dying on the inside, but don’t wish for anyone to worry’.

Okay, here are some funny cat videos. They're not super funny, but it is sort of funny. (You can skip bits.)

nope, I don't like you
Sooo, I didn't like how the photos on my last post looked with my theme, so I had to change it (the theme that is). Sorry that no one probably saw it before I changed it. I spent maybe 30 minutes cycling through a variety of themes to test out how the pictures looked. I think I like this one. I even have the separate boxes around each post back!
Also, I found out that if I hover over the top right hand corner, then I can see when I posted something--right down to the minute! (You can't do that, though, so I will still tag dates for your convenience.)
Oh, and I still need to figure out a title. I can't have "untitled" forever.

So, I got a tattoo. I'm at college, I wanna live dangerously. I was nervous, but hey, what's a little pain?
laundry woes
There's a lot of things I needed to do in preparation for school. One thing was laundry! Yay! Or not. Whatever. So, anyway, I needed to do laundry. (I've recently noticed that I use the word "so" a lot. Like, all the time. Pretty much every other sentence I want to start it with "so." I don't know why, though. But I am determined to stop it.)
I threw everything into the washing machine. Before I started it, I noticed that there were two red shirts sitting on top. (Oooh, this sounds like a Star Trek joke. I should think about that more.) Now, this load was just a regular load. I tend to mix my darks and lights. I know whites should be done separately, but I usually don't bother, and it's usually fine. Even I know better than to mix whites with reds, though. But it was already in the machine, and it would be wet if I pulled it out, so I waved my hand in the air, and (like the chipmunk from Enchanted in that one scene) said "Oh, it'll be okay."
It was not okay.
To my utter horror, when I went to put my clothes in the dryer, I found that my whites had turned completely pink. Very noticeably pink. Even a pair of tan pants had gained a pinkish tint! Now, none of my absolutely favorite clothes were in that load, but there were still some shirts that I liked. I didn't want them to be pink!
I had to beg my mom for help. She laughed, the traitor! I was telling her what happened, feeling completely miserable and humiliated, and she was trying to hide her laughter. But she could not hide it. Thank you for adding to my humiliation. Thank you.
I was suitably dramatic about the whole thing, of course. "My life is over!" "I'm a failure! An utter failure!" "Why am I so stupid? Don't I have any common sense?"
I guess that should be a lesson in laziness.
I'm still okay!
So wow, it's been a really long time since my last post. In fact, I have no idea how long it's been, which is why I am now going to tag my posts with the date. Problem solved!
You may noticed that I have finally buckled under the pressure and chosen a theme. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I think I like how it looks, but in my old plain no-theme past, my posts each had their own separate box. I liked that. I might change the theme if I decide I don't like it enough. It may become a revolving door of themes!
So, I can't really promise that new updates will come any sooner, but I shall try! School starts again on Monday, so I'll be busy, but I have no real excuse as to why I haven't posted since before Christmas, so...
Oh! I also need to dig up cat videos from somewhere, because I promised in my very first post that I would have a lot of those, and I don't want to be a liar. ;)
.
...hi.
the promised theatre class post (part 2!)
Okay, in case you didn't notice the title, this is part two! Go read my last post if you haven't already done that (Okay, okay, you don't have to. But I'm not explaining anything, so if you're lost, it's your own fault.).
So I came to class on Thursday very nervous. Then, we were told that the script actually had to be 6-10 minutes long, not 4-6 minutes. Instead of 6 minutes being the maximum, it was now going to be the minimum. Oh, no. (Don't worry, guys. We're only graded on our own role, so if the script is bad, I'll be the only one to suffer... :( *sob*)
Our director had us do a read through, and it ended up being about 5 minutes and 45 seconds. Then our two actors swapped, and that time it was only 5 minutes and 30 seconds. But that was without any motions or actions, so once we add that, then we should be good on time.
And they liked it! Ahhh, I was so relived (and happy!). I tried to make it funny, so when they laughed while doing the read through, that was great! They kept saying it was a great script. I was also the only scriptwriter who actually had a complete script. The other two...didn't. Far from it, actually.
The sound/light/set technicians actually work on everyone's scenes. Two of them came over to us. They both said they came over because our group was already talking about lighting. I guess the other groups were still talking about scripts (they both said my script was the best! (but that's probably only because I had the only complete one)).
Our director said I should take Scriptwriting, and I said that I plan to, and I'm actually a Creative Writing major. When I said that, they all actually cheered a little. Not kidding. They were all "Yeeeeesssssssss!" (I jumped! ;D) "We got the Creative Writing major!"
Our director is awesome, our designer is awesome, and our actors are awesome. I'm feeling pretty good about this project! (It is just so weird to think that something I wrote will be performed on stage. Even though it's just in class, it is so, so cool. (And scary. But mostly cool.) I think I will try to film it!)

the promised theatre class post
So before I dive into how great Thursday's class was, I must talk about how I was sort of dreading it. On Tuesday we performed our composition/dream play. (I think it went quite well.)
After all the groups performed, we had only a little bit of class time left. We were assigned our next project: a non-human creation project. In this project, we would again be split into groups. We would then need to create a scene with non-human characters (although we were advised to stay away from animals, too: not creative enough). The scene would need to be 4-6 minutes long. Everyone would choose a role: playwriting, directing, acting, designing, and sound/lights/set technician.
Our teacher first had us stand in different places on stage: people who wanted to write the script would stand in one place, people who wanted to act would stand in another, and so on. Well, I went to the playwright section, and there were two other people there (most people went to the acting section). It worked out, though, because we ended up in three different groups (one or two people needed to move from acting to another position, though). It was great, because two of the people I worked with on the last project ended up in my group.
Anyway, (wow this background info is taking forever) that was Tuesday. I need to have a rough draft of my script ready by Thursday. Yes, that's right. Thursday. And, the designer needed to have thumbnail sketches and make-up/costume designs. So I needed to be done in time to send her my script (or at least the main concept).
And it's scary, sharing your work. What if everyone hated it? I was really nervous, so I was dreading Thursday's class.
Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Er, this setup took a lot longer than I thought it would. I don't want to drown you guys with an overload of a post. I shall have to finish this story in the next one (I shall post it promptly, don't worry! ;P).
Today was a good day
Well, I say today. Weeeeeell, I really mean Thursday. Yup, Thursday was pretty great. For the most part anyway. I had really wanted to go to the Memory Tips workshop. It would have been really helpful; plus, my Psychology professor was teaching it. She is awesome, and I really wanted to go. But, I had to go to a Writer Master class instead. But I had wanted to go to both! The class was about sci-fi/fantasy character development and world building. It was really interesting, but I wish those two things had been at different times (I asked my Psych teacher for the notes about the workshop, so it wasn't all that bad.).
Theatre was absolutely, totally fantastic! I shall address that in a later post, because I will go off on a major tangent.
It's not Thanksgiving yet, but we had Thanksgiving dinner on this particular Thursday. O.O There was so much food! There was turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans (all of which I had). There were also breadsticks (which I also had). Then there were turkey burgers (which looked so good, and I kind of wish I had tried that instead). And there were these GIANT turkey legs. They were seriously huge. And there were three kinds of pie! Pumpkin, pecan, and apple. I only had pumpkin, but I wanted all three. I've never had pecan pie, so I wish I had tried that...
Then, for my Thursday night class, it turned out to be meet-with-your-mentor class, so we all went to the barn and played a game. We played Imagine If, which is one of my favorites.
I went bowling on Thursday, too! It was my section (8 is great!) and the other section in the cluster (boo on 2 (just kidding!)). I only scored a 70, but I did get two strikes in a row! (followed by two gutters...)
So, overall, it was a great day!
