Trees of Bangalore

The bright orange flowers of Gulmohar is a sign of summer is here.

The tree is also called Elephant ear because of its peculiarly shaped fruits. 

One of my favorite flowering trees, the Java Cassia with its varied shades of pink flowers.

This lovely flowering tree, also called as wild Guava, was in bloom last Month of February. 

It is also called Kumbhi because the fruits resemble a water pot. :)

One of the Largest trees of the world, the baobab tree is a native of Madagascar islands.

This a rare and beautiful tree, with its head of lovely orange flowers.

Fondly called as Krishna’s buttercup, this large sized tree has a unique feature-  the leaves have a pocket-like fold at the base.

Also known as the Orchid tree, beautiful extravagant flowers can be seen hanging from the long inflorescence, or flower stalk, which is a bright crimson red at the end.

Commonly known as the Yellow Saraca, this interesting tree bears beautiful yellow fragrant flowers on its bark.
