Hey weather, long time no see (I've been around just shit energy/sanity). I have a bunch of things I wanna talk about (and hopefully make a proper post about) but currently I'm thinking bio mecha and the need for a skin layer for anything to make sense and not have a wet (oh yhe hell that is moisture) horror that screams whenever you want it to do soemthing. I'm trying to think of the skin layer as a mounting base for armor but now I wonder how is that different from just a dude in armor. Are Eva's just big guys in suits? Truly its gone full circle if that's the case. Anyways I know armor has more layers like chainmail and leather vests that could be used as a skin layer but that doesn't feel right, "fantasitcal", etc.
Can living armor even work with a skeleton? Or is it one or the other? Now I'm thinking of mimics in knight suits that trade armor pieces.
All this comes about because I want to use magic vines on a dead skeleton as the source of motion for the fairyzord thing. Probably mentioned this before.
Wonder if I should take inspiration from Halo's Mjlonir armor and it's insanse requirements to function.
Do you need to design and make a skeleton for a bio mecha? Getting off topic. So, what do you think about all this?
Oh my god am I trying to reinvent bionicle. Why is thr balance between flesh and mech so hard. Exposed meat is nice but can be easily stopped, armor is nice but too much and you look like any other bloke
The simplest solution is to add a skin layer and add traditional-styled armour overtop. Everything has skin, from animals to plants, to mushrooms, to single-celled organisms have skin. A skeleton already provides the physical structure needed to support a body, so adding vines to a skeleton would be the simplest way to make an ambulatory body.
Here's a thought, bringing it all together. The Skeleton binds a soul to it. Fairy command deck / cockpit + some magic orb power source in the rib cage. Eyes that glow a soft blue/green. Armour can range from ordinary Human armour, to enchanted Mythril/Arcanite plates that can be partially controlled with the body. This would allow you to have common-soldier fairy mechs to Space Marine fairy mechs.
Skin colour varies considerably with the power level of the mech, like light blues to greens to reds. Fairies don't understand why Humans are immediately able to recognize it as not a regular Human.
And, yes, Evangelions are the body of Angels (in NGE contex), with armour plates designed to restrain and control it, and a control pod, (filled with the blood of Lilith, that works as a breathable liquid).
