IT WAS A DUMB   question. rae herself wasn’t even sure if she believed in ghosts. she’d analyzed her psychological state a billion times, and had other people do it too. there was nothing in it to explain what she saw, what she felt, what she could do. still, she wondered if it was all in her head. “ i’ve seen a lot of crazy things. “ she said after another moment of silence, fiddling with her fingers. “ i have a knack for finding dead bodies. it’s... rare for it to ever be from natural causes and... “ talking about it made her sound crazier, she realized. “ i see their... ghosts... i guess. sometimes i can see what happened to them. who did it. pieces of who they were. there’s more too but... the deeper i get into it the crazier it sounds. “ 

SHE’D ALWAYS BEEN A   little ‘too much‘ for people, and she didn’t hold any bad feelings towards the people who couldn’t be around her, she understood. her eyes flickered nervously, memorizing faces as they came and went, and she seemed to talk about the weirdest things. she was awkward as hell, on top of whatever else was wrong with her. so whenever people actually tollerate it, she appreciates it. a smile rested on her lips, nodding her head a little. “ uh, anywhere i can get my hands on medical records. i don’t know anything about our parents, but. i wouldn’t say that there’s many triplets who share the same birthday as other sets. so... birth records are my easiest chance at finding a name for our parents. “ she explained, shifting her weight slightly to her other leg. “ i’m probably gonna jinx it but i feel like i’m getting really close to finding all the answers. “ and not just to their parentage, but to the things they saw, the things they felt, what they could do.
