Can I dwell on what I scarce remember? I held a castle on the Marches once, and there was a woman I was pledged to marry, but I could not find that castle today, nor tell you the colour of that woman's hair. Who knighted me, old friend? What were my favourite foods? It all fades. Sometimes I think I was born on the bloody grass in that grove of ash, with the taste of fire in my mouth and a hole in my chest. Are you my mother, Thoros?

               vision  blurred  &&  senses  weak  ——————  he  awoke.  chest  barely  rose  &&  fell  as  dull  grey-green  eyes  stared  up  at  the  winter  sky.  a  faint  throbbing  sensation  spreading  from  his  throat  was  the  only  indication  he  was  ALIVE.  trembling  hand  was  raised  to  bare  throat,  where  finger  tips  grazed  against  sliced  flesh.  blood  still  clung  to  paler  skin  &&  soaked  the  fabric  of  his  cloak.  he  knew  what  had  happened.  he  REMEMBERED  the  youngest  Stark  turning  &&  slashing  his  throat  with  his  own  dagger.  other  hand  was  still  stained  crimson  when  he  raised  it,  vision  slowly  gaining  more  focus.

 the  crunch  of  snow  had  him  turning  his  head  the  best  he  could  without  feeling  pain  or  aching.  an  unfamiliar  man  with  patch  covering  one  eye  was  all  he  saw.

 he  opened  his  mouth  to  speak,  but  no  words  came  out.  IT  HURT  TO  EVEN  TRY.  so  instead,  he  forced  himself  to  sit  up,  questioning  look  being  shot  in  the  mans  direction.  occasional  stray  drop  of  blood  spilling  from  corners  of  the  wound  that  now  m a r r e d  his  neck.

“Don’t.” Beric said, trying to make the words as clear as possible to the man who had suffered his first death and came back. The third person in the world who had done so. “Hard to talk when your throat’s cut.” Beric laughed, a bitter laugh. Not a laugh that came out of joy but a laugh that came out of despair.

Beric rested his hand on his sword, he hadn’t done this before. He was unsure whether the newly brought back to life Littlefinger would be angry at him. He assumed he would be glad to be brought back to life but Beric was taking no chances. He would be ready.

Beric offered his hand that was not placed on his sword to the man, offering to help him up. “Welcome back to life. I’d say you get used to it. Being brought back, but you never do.” 

Beric had BROUGHT the man back to life, he had afflicted another with his unfortunate condition. He thought if he did what Thoros did his life would finally END and he would die his FINAL DEATH but the Lord of Light did not want him to die.
