When you see something beautiful in someone, tell them. It may take seconds to say, but for them, it could last a lifetime.

Winter in August
My Dearest August,
How many times have I ignored all your messages?
Three? Four? Sorry but I’d lost count.
I can’t help but feel blue when I think of you and all the memories we had.
August is when we met when you entered my dome.
Can you still remember the muggy feeling we got?
The fits of laughter we shared when our favorite show came on.
The rush of adrenaline in our veins when the dog chased us in the fields.
Your face was red and I had to contain my giggle even if I badly want to laugh.
Sadly, August is when it all went down the drain.
It feels like the August we thought that was worth remembering
Was also an August worth forgetting.
Ironically, August is when I write this letter to you.
To end this reckoning silence of the ghost of August.
This ghost that will haunt me through the end of times.
The world we built from something real will crumble into foreign rocks and steel.
