Dear LDS Church, Please stop looking at me like you feel sorry for me. I am a proud to be who I am, thankful for ALL my life lessons, my tattoos, my fashion choice, my stretched ear lobes. Also, please stop telling me people always ask about us, because when I do go back to church, nobody knows who I am and I constantly get mistaken for a “visitor”. Why am I one of the only non-white, non-married members of the church?  Signed, A young, single mother, & woman of color, whom did not grow up in the church nor been to the temple.  P.S. Please stop pressuring me to come back. I’ve felt uncomfortable every time I’ve been, and just thinking about going gives me anxiety, when I don’t even have social anxiety.

Dear LDS Church, Why do I feel the spirit so strongly when I talk to the young male missionaries, but not actually in church? There’s something wrong with that.  Signed, A confused and inactive member

Dear LDS Church, Why are ALL the women in church so soft spoken, passive aggressive, dainty, almost frail-like, and even seem to dress alike? I stick out like a sore thumb, yet 90% of the women have no interest on even introducing themselves or getting to know me at all.  Signed, A strong, outspoken, independent single mom raised in a MATRIARCHAL culture who will not change even the tiniest part of herself to “fit in”.

Dear LDS church, Our ward is in a pretty diverse location. The membership doesn’t reflect that at all. There’s a reason why you can’t retain non-white members. And it’s not very hard to figure out.  Signed, A Native American woman
