quick disclaimer

first of all something petty; the judges seem like gossiping highschoolers during the challenges? just overly nasty for no particular reason? if youre gonna give feedback during the challenge then you need to help more instead of saying "oh... did you do that on purpose... youre not meant to..." and leaving. that only panics the contestants (as we saw with meadow and dont worry, im getting to that elimination) and leaves them with no idea what to do next. theyre better off not giving feedback until the end of the challenge because it makes the stress of knitting in such a small amount of time even worse.

most of my issues lie with the range of skills and the attempt to make knitting approachable tbh. they said right from the beginning that the contestants are all a wide range of skill levels, some of which have very little experience, and then ON THE SECOND EPISODE they first want something both knit and crochet designed by the contestants with no pattern whatsoever, then they want intarsia with mohair, once again with the colour chart needing to be designed by the contestants!! they barely even explained what intarsia meant last episode!!

but of course, that's a team task. it makes sense its more complicated. sure. fine. except the idea of a blind team task.... dhhdhfdhf

last episode i predicted, out loud, that someone wouldnt do great in the solo task, work hard on the team task, and go home regardless. now we're onto meadow.

listen. they didnt do great on the solo task, fine. their intarsia (once again bearing in mind that as i recall they said theyve only been knitting for a year) wasnt great on the team task, fine. but the reason their teams jumper was in last place was because ailsa knitted her piece wrong. thats no shade to ailsa, we all mess up. but the judges, of course, didnt know this. they couldnt know this because the challenge was judged blind!! that means if you mess up in the solo task, it comes down to if you happen to be on the winning team, no matter how well you individually did on that team!!

this show was rushed. i guarantee you they rushed production on this in order to get it out just as bake off and celebrity traitors ended. they absolutely needed more development on this show because ultimately it feels like a bake off rip off that (pardon the pun) needed more time in the oven.
