    she’s eating some type of dish with a pair of dollar-store chopsticks  ,  one  , as she speaks with her mouth full  ,  pointing at him accusingly.  ❛ so , uh , the whole robot in disguise thing is neat , but shouldn’t you shoot for something a bit more practical if you’re actually in disguise ?   ❜   she swallows , adjusting her sunglasses.    ❛ … like. don’t get me wrong. alien space ship ? cool as ALL HELL. but i’m pretty sure you’d end up in area 51 if the feds actually found you. ❜   putting the bowl and chopsticks aside, she pulls out a small notepad.   ❛ i started making a list of suggestions, actually. dumpster truck is at the TOP of the list ( not implying that you’re TRASH or anything, but --- )  ❜

an offhand comment, a gesture of humor. truth be told, he’s little interest in star wars — sure, he’s seen the movies, but there’s never been much of an inclination or aversion – merely the acknowledgement of its presence. he cants his head, in interest & in habit, brows lifting slightly at the mention of & her sentiment towards astrophysics & its programs. perhaps it is the beginning of a certain, higher respect – an infatuation with the notion of higher sciences.

❛ astrophysics? that’s quite impressive; our director of astrophysics is quite the man, i’m positive you’ll find what you’re looking for here. — though, i hope you’re enjoying the campus so far.

something of a quaint smile gathers upon his features, & he passes on the wallet to her. a shift in his stance, a kind of sway in his weight – ( as always, a habit of sorts in which he preoccupies himself, simmering down thoughts oft too active for his wellbeing. ) – the smile grows slightly, a glint of pride & posture as he straightens himself ( not that it made much difference. ) & offers something reminiscent of a shrug, though – not the most appropriate answer, victor.

a distortionary mechanism, he is both futile & significant; stark in his contrast with the world – he is hungry & devouring, insatiate & god-seeking, like the others who lust for glory, but he, in his intensity of it all, marks himself as something more. of course, to the outer shell, to those who look & see but do not dare or deign to observe: he is naught but a college student, perhaps a prodigious one, but nothing more & nothing less. for now, he’s bent over, picking something up, what it is he doesn’t bother to examine, & he breaks into a light run, to catch up with who he believes to be its owner.
