A lot of you guys allow that personal bias to cloud your opinion of anything even resembling Christianity and you're fucking yourselves over as a result

This can manifest in a number of ways, like thinking Abrahamic elements of ceremonial magick is icky, totally discounting the Christian mystics who inspired modern esotercism, and being weirdly judge-y towards Christian witches

Also the modern American Christian Right is more of a political terrorist group than it is a religion, so there's a lot of conflation between Christianity as a whole and that far-right movement

Btw I'm NOT a Christian and never have been, but I also didn't grow up Christian so I don't have that hate-boner. Yes, purity culture is bad. Dogma is bad. But don't let that prevent you from seeing the wisdom in every religion, including Christianity

When I was a kid, tarot was always treated like this mysterious, forbidden thing. You know… ooo, it’s fortune telling. It’s evil. It’s predicting the future.

Then I actually started learning tarot.

And honestly?

It’s way less dramatic than people make it out to be.

Tarot isn’t about locking you into a fixed future. At least, that’s never been my experience. To me, it’s a conversation. It’s a way of reading the energy surrounding a situation and giving your intuition something to work with. The cards become mirrors, symbols, and prompts that help you notice what you already feel, what you’re avoiding, what possibilities are unfolding, and what choices are sitting in front of you.

In other words… it’s basically stating the obvious if you’re a reasonably self-aware person.

Which brings me to my biggest complaint.

Sometimes I get so mad at my tarot deck.

Because every now and then I just want it to predict the damn future.

I don’t want another lesson.

I don’t want another reminder to trust my intuition.

I don’t want another card telling me to be patient, heal, communicate, or let go.

I want a straight answer.

Instead, tarot usually responds with something like, “Well… here’s where the energy is headed if nothing changes. Here’s another possibility if you make different choices. Here’s what’s blocking you. Now… what are you going to do about it?”

It’s incredibly rude.

Helpful…

But rude.

The truth is, tarot reminds me over and over that the future isn’t a single road. It’s a landscape of possibilities. Our choices, habits, fears, courage, and timing all influence where we end up. The cards aren’t trying to trap us in fate—they’re inviting us to participate in creating it.

So yes, my cards and I have a bit of a love-hate relationship.

(Kidding… mostly.)

We actually work really well together.

Most of the time they aren’t telling me something I don’t already know. They’re putting words and images to something I’ve been feeling all along. They’re that little nudge that says, “You already know this. You just needed to hear it again.”

And honestly, that’s probably why I love reading for other people so much.

Watching the gears start turning…

Seeing that moment when everything clicks…

Hearing someone say, “Oh my God… that’s exactly what’s been happening.”

Those moments are my favorite.

Not because the cards magically revealed some unavoidable destiny, but because they helped someone see themselves more clearly. They helped someone recognize the direction they’re already walking, the obstacles they’re creating, or the possibilities waiting for them if they’re willing to make different choices.

Tarot doesn’t live your life for you.

It doesn’t make your decisions.

It doesn’t replace wisdom or discernment.

But it can illuminate the path beneath your feet.

And sometimes… even if I wish it would just tell me exactly what’s going to happen…
