what if I said during the whole space season episode Leo wasn't the only one talking to a hologram of someone close to him (this is oc x canon basically so I'm not rlly acknowledging mona, srry) Splinter wasn't the only one Raph had to see die. He had her right in his hand, trying to ground her, keep her from slipping in his grasp to die in that black hole. She kept screaming for him, telling him she didn't want to die, with that horrified look on her face. He promised her. Promised she wouldn't die, promised he wouldn't let go, but of course... that promise fell wasn't kept. even though he knows they went back to before the earth was totally destroyed, he can't shake the awful memory of her screaming, how she begged him not to let go, how scared she looked. It remains a haunting nightmare each time he tries to sleep. He not only didn't keep his promise, he couldn't keep the one person he loved so much safe at that. She doesn't know that, of course. Only he does. now all he can do is just talk to "her". He can't muster up any words. He can only stare at how beautiful she was. He just wants to sit with her, even if it's not really her. He just needs something of her that doesn't remind him of how he failed. even if it's not real.
