Finished the blanket chest. Lots of learnings, and some beautiful curly cherry!

Finished the puzzle cabinet. This one was a blast. First time making cabriole legs, and will def do it again. Beautiful curly maple from Mapleleaf Hardwoods. A perfect spot for our collection of @libertypuzzles 🙂

Relaxing after a great week learning how to make a craftsman style rocker from the incomparable @strazzafurniture at @austinschooloffurniture. Amazing experience with some awesome fellow students. Just some final tuning and sanding before the finish, but we’ll save that for next weekend!

I began noodling on this media room project in early 2020 and bought the walnut and curly maple on March 14, 2020 - 3 days before our world changed (got in before the price of lumber skyrocketed!) And, it’s kept me busy for the past 18 months. I learned a ton. First time trying handcut mitered dovetails, and did it on all four carcasses. First time doing any kind of dovetails on something this big. First time working with veneer. Built a veneer vacuum press to do it. 20 mitered doors with claro veneer panels, 16 of them with fiddly knife hinges. Eight dovetailed drawers. 18 double-bridle jointed legs. Walnut, maple and cedar from @fine_lumber_austin. Claro walnut veneer from @gobywalnut. Hardware from @blum_usa, @brussohardware and @whitechapel.ltd. Inspiration from everyone on Ig and long playlists featuring Tweedy, Wayne Coyne and John Prine. The Covid project is done, and so should be Covid. I think that’s fair.
