i think that even if jack had been born as a baby, sam dean and cas would still have talked to him as if he were a young adult, both because talking properly to children is important but also it would just be hilarious to have sam update baby jack on his research for a case like jack can be of any help

do you guys ever think about dean stealing to make ends meet when they got left alone as kids and giving sam the last bowl of cereal and making sure sam had enough to eat and taking the bare minimum for himself and sam growing up big and tall and strong and flourishing as much as he could in school and outgrowing dean in height and education alike and the effects that proper nutrition or lack thereof tends to have on children’s height and academic performance

common post-finale fic trope for dean to like. not think he’s attracted to cas but try to act like it for cas’ sake. and everyone around him goes hey dean don’t do that. but i’m honestly not convinced that sam or Somebody wouldn’t be on board… like dean. go be gay for that poor dead angel

tbh i see a lot of talk about how cas doesn’t know what his death does to dean but i think that if he knew/actually saw it first hand there’s a solid chance that he’d decide that if the problem is Him Dying the answer is to Stay Gone. give dean a chance to properly grieve and settle things and then he can’t be hurt like that again because cas won’t be there to die again in the first place. of course this is the worst approach that a person could take to this but my friend castiel is solution-focused and goal-oriented and often fails to consider things like feelings and emotions along the way

believe me nobody is more committed to hating supernatural than the people who really like supernatural

there are a lot of points in the time that dean is in ben's life that he does not act in accordance with even his own standards. he's there for that boy in a lot of ways but he does not do it perfectly and his fears of acting like his father are founded when he doesn't slow down and check himself and remember to be better. which is all to say that when lisa is hurt and ben is frozen and not responding to verbal prompts and dean immediately slaps him across the face to snap him out of it instead of shaking his shoulder it was fucked up and also indicative of the way that dean was taught to treat a child in a life-or-death situation. we know that he's gentle with kids. he's really specific about doing so. so when he's panicked and his impulse solution is physical force even though ben is a kid. idk. it's not his usual behavior but it does come from somewhere. tells you about how he was raised. how he was treated as a child, even. and i do think about that
