I recently faced a series of unexpected challenges that have put my home and my five cats at risk. After coming down with pneumonia, I spent three days in the hospital and developed temporary hearing loss due to severe sinus issues. My employer initially advised me to file for a leave of absence and submit doctor’s notes, assuring me that my absences would be excused. Despite following their instructions and checking in regularly, I was later told by someone else at the company that I wasn’t eligible for my promised LOA after being told an entirely different story from my main supervisor. This resulted in my termination, and my employer stopped responding to my messages and officially removed me from the work schedule.

Living alone with my cats, I am now facing mounting rent fees and the real possibility of eviction. The thought of being separated from my cats and losing my home is overwhelming. I am actively searching for a new job, but the sudden loss of income has made it impossible to catch up on rent.
