I do but I don’t

How can I not question when I’m constantly left standing under a streetlight holding my feelings in one hand and my doubts in the other?

When I’m pouring myself out

And wearing myself thin

giving and giving

But never receiving

When my breaths are for you and all about you

but you

When you breathe I have to look closely and make sure your breaths are all about me

Because when we’re together I don’t feel so small

Yet when you’re gone I don’t think I run through your mind as much as you run through mine

So of course I never want to leave

A little attention is better than sinking into oblivion
