There are few images funnier to me than that of Fjord anxiously saying “h-hello there!…?” while holding out a bit of food to Sprinkle, who is 0.000007 seconds away from biting him because Fjord’s -2 to Animal Handling is not necessarily that he’s bad with animals, it’s more that they sense his fear and react accordingly.

THIS is the other thing!! The thought that, despite it all and despite Fjord’s own “I don’t like it” energy about this weasel, Sprinkle LIKES Fjord is just the funniest thing. Fjord begrudgingly now has a goddamn bedraggled weasel living in HIS collar now sometimes.

I wasn’t going to try this since it was a big mess weeks in the making but I ended up pulling a bunch of the wips I have together for a process gif of this one. the reception as been really wonderful, and I’m pretty proud of it!

for those wondering (or asking!) I worked on this on and off pretty much from the day after liam invited me to contribute (I had to settle on a topic so I did some thumbnailing first before committing) up until the day before it was due (so like…v late october to mid december? ish.) It changed around a lot while I was working (you can see the moment the new character art dropped and cad’s hair gets chopped off, ha!) and it was not a quick or easy undertaking, but I knew I had a little more free time in November than usual so I purposefully bit off a bit more than I could comfortably chew to kick myself out of my comfort zone and try stretching my legs a bit.

It was also nice to try to tackle some characters I hadn’t really drawn before! I started slowly adding guest PCs and then I couldn’t stand the thought of leaving anyone out if I could swing it, and then I tried to fit in as many npcs as I could manage with them. (I even had a thought of adding a Spurt Roast or something as a nod to the dear departed kobold friend but that seemed a little morbid and I was running out of time so I didn’t end up going for it.) I tried to arrange things in a way that I could cull a couple characters without affecting the composition too much if I got REALLY pressed for time, but luckily everyone made it in under the wire!
