I’m not hyperfocusing on Mettaton’s flaws. I have like, 10 posts about him? I’m just pointing them out because people think his character is just being trans and he's flawless. But that's not true, he also abandoned Napstablook, was a bad friend to Alphys, and was a terrible boss to Burgerpants. And that has nothing to do with his transition.

Ignoring a character's flaws just because they're trans isn't woke at all, it's actually good and important for queer characters to be flawed. Take Susie, Spamton and Alphys for example, their flaws have nothing to do with them being queer, and the same goes for Mettaton.

Liking a character doesn't mean having to make excuses for what they did wrong, and pointing out their flaws doesn't mean I hate them. By that logic, Toby would hate his characters too, since he pointed out all their flaws during the anniversary stream. The author wrote the characters with this flaw, and I am analyzing them and looking for themes and subtext—such as characters struggling with mental health who are almost always neglected, and classism.

At no point am I making excuses for what Spamton did wrong. I have literally never done that, you're just projecting and creating scenarios in your head and being angry about it.
