Oh God, I'm losing my manhood
Something tragic happened today. It was unexpected, and didn’t sink in until hours later. I hope I can recover.
Today I went looking for a baby-hauling car. My wonderful Inara (BMW Z4 Coupe) only has two seats, and isn’t ideal for baby transport, and impossible for family transport. I went out to research crossovers and SUVs to haul future baby, wife, dog and future dog (great dane) around.
I hit up the chrysler, jeep, dodge dealership–they had a lot of everything and was mainly looking to research Jeep Grand Cherokees. On a side note, I wasn’t nearly as taken with the Jeep as I was the Dodge Durango, but I digress.
The tragedy…I didn’t even give a 2nd look to any of the new Chargers, Challengers, or even the limited edition Super Bee they had in stock. Neo-American Muscle at it’s finest (Mustang jumped the shark years ago and has yet to return). Yes, I’m a German precision driving enthusiast, but I’ve been taken visually and philosophically with what Dodge has done with the new Charger and Challenger.
But I didn’t really look at them. They have backseats. They have power. I could feel like a manly/cool dad cruising in a matte black Super Bee. Instead, I went straight back to the Durango with all the bells, whistles and gadgets to make suburban life more stereotypical. I can’t tell if I should hang my head in shame, or revel in the fact that I’m thinking of what is best for my family, over flare, form and performance….
