alignment — innate resonance each lumen holds with one of the four primary threads. alignment shapes how a lumen perceives and interacts with reality, setting both their strengths and their limits.

astrae (pl. astrai)  — beings chosen to guard and oversee an individual thread. (formerly known as ‘stars’)

descension — the moment a lumen comes into being

constellations — collectives of stewards appointed by the loom above to serve under an astraea. each constellation is tied to one of the four threads, with its members charged to tend, repair, and monitor specific facets of that thread’s function

essence — thread of material being. it governs form, function, and presence.

fate — thread of time, alignment, and inevitability. it governs sequence, convergence, and recursion.

heart — thread of feeling, perception, and the subconscious. it governs emotion, illusions, and dreams.

mind — thread of thought, logic, and identity. it governs cognition, structure, and memory.

lumen (pl. lumina) — a non-mortal species formed through descension, when a shard of the loom above anchors into a vessel in the loom below. (formerly known as ‘fae’)

thread — the foundational forces woven through all existence. they are literal structures of reality, forming everything we know today. there are four primary threads: essence, heart, mind & fate.

threadburn — metaphysical backlash that occurs when a lumen oversteps the bounds of their alignment. Triggered by direct interference with a thread not their own, threadburn manifests as destabilization, injury, or collapse of selfhood.

vessel — the matter that anchors a lumen’s origin (bone, flower, crystal, artifact, etc.). it imprints temperament and metaphysical affinities. acts as their ‘heart’, taking the same place in their body.

healing response — accelerated or slowed recovery depending on thread balance. (common amongst all lumina) 

stamina sustain — ability to endure strain, illness, or exhaustion beyond mortal limits. (common amongst essence-aligned)

presence weighting — metaphysical “gravity” that alters how others feel their presence (from grounding calm to suffocating heaviness). (common amongst essence-aligned)

structural integrity — vessel reinforced against decay, collapse, or deformation. (rare outside essence alignment)

resonant growth — ability to direct physical or biological growth (bone knitting, scar fading, tissue strengthening). (known users: schola eilura, a stone-born lumen)

corrosion control — halting or accelerating decay in matter, from rust to rot. (studied by mineral-vessel scholars)

gravitational influence — subtle shifts in weight, balance, or density in self or environment. (common amongst essence-based scholars)
