A “Primary Gender” has sex characteristics that describe genitalia only (vaginas and penises).

Women stay fertile until the age of 150.

Men stay fertile until the age of 160.

For any gender, controlling fertility up until those ages, can always be an option with medication or surgery. / Traditionally, medicinal teas and painful surgery exist for women who want to prevent pregnancy. It is very looked down upon if you are an omega.

Pain-free abortion exists for those who do not wish to be pregnant. / Medicinal teas for abortion.

Secondary Genders

A “Secondary Gender” has sex characteristics that describe a person’s ability and likelihood to procreate, though there are exceptions. These genders are Alpha, Beta, and Omega.

Any Primary Gender can be any Secondary Gender

Secondary gender usually kicks in between the ages of 11 and 25. It is impossible to know which secondary gender a person is until they “present”. Though it often coincides with the onset of puberty, there are many cases of the two being far apart.

Sometimes, the first time someone is in the presence of their true mate can trigger rut & heat, which will trigger presentation. No one knows why this occurs at all, let alone why it happens for some mates, but not others. It’s one of nature’s mysteries.

Mates will eventually sync up their cycles to produce children, but it’s not always necessary.

ALPHAS

Uncommon

Territorial

Protective of their pack (their blood and chosen family come first)

Can be Male, Female, or however that individual identifies.

Experience Rut or Heat, depending on their primary gender.

Most fertile, always exceptions, but rare to be infertile.

Penises have large Knots

Vaginas may have a “knot”, but this is a ring of muscle around the vaginal opening and not a true knot

BETAS

Common

Not territorial

Mediators

Protective of their pack (their blood and chosen family come first)

Can be Male, Female, or however that individual identifies

Do not experience Heats or Ruts as intensely as Alphas and Omegas

May become Alphas if there are no remaining Alphas in the pack

Least fertile, though it is not uncommon for one to be fertile

Their scent calms the more hot-headed Alphas and Omegas

Penises & vaginas do not have Knots, but are just as pleasurable

OMEGAS

Uncommon / Rare

Territorial, though not to the extent of Alphas

Very protective of their pack (their blood and chosen family come first)

Can be just as vicious as Alphas

Can be Male, Female, or however that individual identifies

Most fertile, but always exceptions

Heat & Rut

HEAT

For women, secondary gender will present during a Heat. The onset of your first heat can be delayed with medication. Every other heat can also be delayed with modern suppressant medications. / Medicinal teas can suppress scent during Heat.

RUT

For men, secondary gender will present during a Rut. The onset of your first rut can be delayed with medications. Every other rut can also be delayed with modern suppressant medications. / Medicinal teas can suppress scent during Rut.

BOTH

Rut & Heat are almost identical in their presentation.

Scent & pheromones will increase, enhance, and mature for anywhere from 3 hours to 3 days before cycle begins, making a secondary gender known to everyone.

Your own senses will become heightened, and you will be able to tell the difference in the way some people smell compared to others. This is you smelling the Alphas, Betas, and Omegas.

Women will produce more slick than usual.

Ruts & Heats often cause hot flashes/flushes, which is a feeling of intense heat with sweating and rapid heartbeat. Hot flashes typically last from 15 to 30 minutes for each occurrence. The hot-flash event may be repeated a few times each week or every 2 hours throughout the first 1-2 days of heat or rut.

During heat or rut, you will be more open to mating. The urge to have sex (and especially breed) skyrockets.

Heats & ruts last 4-7 days about every 3 months, but sometimes more or less often. Your cycles can vary and be irregular for some, which is one reason suppressants are useful.

Often mates will go through their cycles together.

Pairing

Though two Betas together and an Alpha & Omega together (regardless of primary gender) are considered the “ideal” couple by traditional standards, any secondary gender can mate with any other secondary gender, including their own. / Alphas and Omegas almost always marry other Alphas or Omegas.

Resulting offspring of an Alpha or an Omega with a Beta will most likely result in Beta children.

Two Alphas will most likely result in Alpha children.

Two Omegas will most likely result in Omega children.

Two Omegas are the rarest couple. This is probably because Omega is the most uncommon, if not rarest, secondary gender.

Betas & Omegas can become Alphas if there are no remaining sexually mature Alphas in the pack. This can also occur if one spends a number of years on their own, without a pack. Their leadership status will increase, they will become fertile, and there’s a higher chance of producing Alpha or Omega children.

True Mates

A true mate is the person your body and soul are drawn to. It can happen within minutes or over years. Unfortunately, still a social or political marriage if you’re an elite. Polycules are not uncommon, but most (90%) of relationships are monogamous. / Traditionally, among royalty and noblemen in a kingdom, if you are not mated by the time you present, you are married and mated for social or political reasons. This is especially true if you have reached the age of 25 and even more so if you are an Omega. Once you present as your secondary gender, you are then presented to everyone worth mentioning at a massive party to see if your true mate is among them. If not, you pretty much go to whomever your parents wed you. Not to fret, if you ever meet your true mate, you are allowed to annul your marriage or create a polycule. If you have more than one, you may marry up to three, as there have never been more than that.

Finding one’s true mate has been described as “coming home after a lifetime away”, “finding your soulmate, someone you know you will grow old with and enjoy it”, “meeting your other half. Not the person who completes you, but the person who sees the real you and accepts you will all their being”.

There are occasions where one can have more than one true mate. Sometimes this is hard to accept at first, for all parties involved, but it rarely ends in tragedy (the way squares would like you to believe.) It can take time,

but all parties usually happily accept the situation and the feelings involved. Sometimes, this results in everyone being involved with everyone else. Sometimes it doesn’t.

Mating / Marking

Marking can be a messy business, involving biting & usually ending in bloody clothes or sheets. The mates take turns marking each other by biting each other in places chosen by the receiver, usually the neck.

Marks can fade over time and the mated couple will choose whether or not to re-mark. This is a personal choice of the potential receiver and not the person doing the marking. / Traditionally, re-marking is customary.

There can be polyamorous and polygamous mates. It’s more common than what everyone has been led to believe.

There can also be multiple pups born at the same time with multiple fathers.

A mating bond is only broken when a mate cheats on another out of lust or genuine unhappiness. This does not, by any means, make things easier on their mate. Jealousy, envy, insecurity can be real problems in this situation.

When a bond is broken, the mate usually knows immediately. It can come in waves or all at once. It won’t kill either mate, but as with any cheating, it is difficult to get over. (Similar to losing one’s mate.)

Though very rare, a previously mated pair that have broken up may re-mate. Usually the bond is broken forever and some people believe the ones who get back together with their ex-mate are lying to themselves about re-establishing a bond.

If a person loses their mate, they may fall in love with another person and mate again.

Regardless their primary or secondary gender, mates usually mark each other. This includes Betas.

They can mate with any primary or secondary gender they love or choose.

Mating does not guarantee progeny.

They can adopt.

Heats and Ruts last 3-7 days. There are hormone blockers & replacements to prevent heats, ovulation, pheromones, or all 3. This comes in the form of pills, monthly injections, or inhalants.

Pregnancy can result in sexual intercourse even when not in heat.

Knotting is the most likely way to gain pregnancy.

Heats and Ruts may make a person insatiable, but Mate-Marking is easily controlled. The idea of Omegas being helpless during a heat is a myth.

Knot

The penis becomes engorged while inside the vagina. This causes the mates to become stuck together for about 15 - 30 minutes. It only shrinks after the penis has deposited semen, allowing them to separate.

The penis expands and the vagina contracts.

It also prevents another penis from mating with the vagina directly after their mating session and possibly getting their genetics in the reproduction, as well.

To prevent injury, the person with a penis can choose to not knot another male. This does not undermine their bond or relationship, nor is it less pleasurable.

A knot can be forcibly removed, but is painful for both parties.

Poly Relationships 


Every relationship that exists between every other person has its own rules that everyone must follow. These are usually basic rules that everyone follows to make it easy to remember.

Time is always equally given to all mates, which is why a person has never had more than three. This ensures that no person involved starts to get aggressive or territorial. It is imperative that this occurs. This can be split into days, weeks, or months but no longer than that. They often live with or near each other. / This can be split into weeks, months, or years. Though, barring things such as illness, incredibly bad weather, or war, making someone go a year or longer without seeing their mate is often seen as cruel. Either one or both mates can become aggressive and melancholic. This is why they must all live near each other, if not in the same home.

All relationships are different, but here are 2 rules that most often show up for a relationship between mates, involving more than two people. (Sex is the number one among rules because time is never an issue.) :

Sex only if everyone is involved or at least present

Sex only with mates.

The Pack

“The Pack” simply refers to a person’s chosen family &/or blood relations with whom they spend a lot of time.

I’m neurodivergent and I live in the USA. I have narcolepsy & insomnia, because apparently that is a thing that happens together. My husband and I watch shows together and he’s even helped me write some fanfic. It’s my fault that he loves some shows, characters, & actors as much as I do. 

We have 3 dogs who only eat when one of us says “Dracarys”, and they are each named after TV, Movie, & Book characters. We also have a cat, and we feed a few neighbourhood cats & (inadvertently) wild animals like opossums. 

I’m a certified scuba diver and love to travel. I love places like New Orleans, Nassau, & London all equally. Maybe someday I will take a trip to a more remote place. 

I enjoy writing fan fiction and making art as Scully Bones Dog on Etsy. I hope to possibly update one of my Aemond fics because I definitely realised there is a plot hole or two, and I need to change something that is incorrect.

April 22, 2026 : Lunesta seems to be working for my insomnia. Been feeling tired during the day though, so I’m worried the narcolepsy is trying to fight through my high-dose ADHD medication that keeps me from falling asleep at random.

March 24, 2026 : Ambien stopped working for me, so we are going to try Lunesta. I just need to get through the next two weeks without sleep. The chickens are producing small-medium sized eggs. Starting to make large ones.

March 02, 2026 : Hens started laying at exactly 16 weeks old.

January 25, 2026 : Chickens are 12 weeks old and outside, (unfortunately for them) right before a snow storm. There are eight that I've raised from day 3. Four of them are mine.

December 29, 2025 : My chickens are 8 weeks old now and should be put outside, but the pen isn’t ready yet. Isotretinoin may be working on my skin. 🤞🏼

November 25, 2025 : A while back, I started Testosterone to help with my libido and other things. My gynaecologist said it was low on my blood work. My skin went from almost completely clear to crazy broken out. Now I’m on Isotretinoin to see if it helps.

November 17, 2025 : I have 8 chicks in my painting room right now. They are 2 weeks old. My mohawk is also purple now. I'm planning my next cut & colour to make it purple and pink.

October 04, 2025 : I have a mohawk now! Picture will be at the bottom of this post. It is currently faded to light-ish blue, but it was originally dark. Planning on doing purple next. I might be getting baby chicks soon to help raise for practice before investing in my own. I'm excited.
