I think S/R is cute despite its flaws in the script, I consider them a good couple. Maybe not the best, but it's okay. I feel the same about H/K, but not about K/A.

It doesn't bother me that K/A is canon, that's fine.

What does bother me a little is when people compare it to the first two, because it's not the same.

K/A is cute, but it has no depth whatsoever.

I don't have any particular thoughts about A, since she almost never appears, and her appearances are pretty forgettable. It's almost the same as with S/M, but at least S/M isn't a main couple, so it's more tolerable and easier to ignore.

What annoys me is when people say that the S/R and K/A relationships are similar, because despite how questionable S/R can be, they have many moments, history, and episodes that reinforce them and make them believable.

With K/A, all I know is that they're in love because the author said so, and it's like, "Well, if that's what the author wants, okay." But when fans say things like, "You can tell K only thinks about A, just like S thinks about R," I can't help but feel that comparison is rude, because A is just an accessory to K, whereas R actually had a personality.

Maybe that makes me sound like an A hater, but I don't care. I think A is more like Bella Swan from Twilight: a self-insert with no personality, no hobbies. And even then, Bella had more development and evolution and became relevant to the story. And I don't want the crumbs of personality I know you'll throw at me, like "But Aoko is childish and extroverted." That's a role anyone could fill. That's exactly what bothers me: for someone in the main cast, I feel like she should have more prominence and be important.

To show you how irrelevant A is compared to R: replace A with, I don't know, a refrigerator, and nothing changes. But if you replaced R with anything, you'd immediately notice the difference, because thanks to R, many characters have been saved and many plots have moved forward.

A? She's just left lying around unconscious. "She brings normalcy to K's life," maybe. But anyone could do that, even KM, who's A's friend. What bothers me is how replaceable A is. And be honest with me: you only like her because she's the one pre-established for K, because she has no relevant qualities.

"But she's kind." Lots of characters are kind. "But she cares about K." Lots of people care about K. "But not like she does." Actually, many other characters who aren't in love with K have done more for him than she has. "But she supported him through his father's death." They haven't shown us that (and that's what annoys me). I literally don't like how their relationship is kept so hidden, written in the background, because you end up assuming things that don't appear on screen. We don't see it. For me, it's like, "I could assume this, but I don't even see it," and I don't feel real affection toward it.

K/A have cute moments, but no depth beyond what's implied.

"But she knew the way he breathed." Implied. You assume they spent a lot of time together and so on, but they don't show you any scenes behind that to give it weight. It's just an argument to say they know each other, but they don't give us any scenes to reinforce that.

Even with the H/K pairing, K has saved H many times. Maybe it doesn't have a lot of content or appearances, but it has been more important than A.

I think many of the S/R and K/A fandom fights could have been solved if people just started brutally shipping K with S/M or A/H. Hell, given how similar they are... K and S: wouldn't that be almost the same thing?

P.S. I hadn't realized there were so many characters with S and K in their names. Just to be clear, I'm talking about heterosexual relationships throughout this post.

I know I sound like a hater, but I'm not telling you this so you stop shipping them. I just wanted to vent my frustration. I've never told anyone this, so I just wanted to get it off my chest and finally let it go.

Those frequently push the limits of plausibility for me, frequently introduce what feel like retcons, and often have so much going on that they can't fully explain what just happened.

I don't engage in the discourse outwardly (back in my day we call 'proshippers' normal people), but if you know anything at all about pro-shipping you'd conclude that I am one because there’s a lot of warning signs (I have anti-harassment, don't like don’t read, and a lot of ship discussions that ultimately round down to it's not my thing but it could be others' in my profiles). I have anti-shippers interacting on my posts agreeing with me daily, simply because I did not utter the 'forbidden word'. It drives me NUTS.

They don’t get it that that is pro-shipping. If you are for people shipping what they want and don't harrass them over it, you are proship. It is as simple as that.

(Of course, this is not the only issue in this fandom, but 🤷. One problem at a time.)
