âActually, yeah. You better make sure itâs really nice, Dom. You gotta treat your future wifey right, right?â Callie teasingly said, looking up from the refrigerator to shoot him a playful smirk. The pact itself was pretty silly and she was pretty sure they werenât completely sober when it was brought about in the first place, but she had to admit that there was some sort of comfort that came with having Dom around, and spending the rest of her life with him wasnât something she was opposed to at all. That was going to happen anyways since he was her best friend and no matter what happened, she would always be around for him, craving for his presence and his company and she knew heâd always be around for her too. âHappy wife, happy life and all that,â she added with a giggle. âWell, big boy, I know you can handle yourself but this is me youâre talking to. You know Iâm always gonna worry about you,â Callie said sincerely, showing him a small smile as she walked towards him and grabbed the beer he opened for her. She giggled at his joke and playfully nudged him with her hip as she stood beside him. âIâm not your mama, but you bet you got me feeling like I am with the shit you make me put up with on a daily basis,â she teasingly said before taking a sip. âNot that I mind though,â she added, not wanting him to feel like he was a burden on her or anything of that kind because that was the farthest thing from the truth. In reality, Callie hated seeing him hurt but she loved that he went to her, trusted her enough to patch him up and to fawn over his well-being. âWhat are you talking about, Dom? Youâre my hero, and donât you go convincing yourself otherwise. I mean, I donât need one but youâre my knight in shining leather, riding on the very noble Harley, off to save the stripper in distress,â Callie chuckled before clapping her hands at the sound of the microwave, letting the both of them know that the popcorn was ready and they can finally go settle down and watch that movie together. âThank you, cariño. Iâm not ready to lose Old Betsy just yet and Iâm pretty sure she still has some more life in her. Sheâs not a quitter,â Callie said, getting the bowl from the microwave and gesturing towards her beer. Being around him for years has made her catch on some of the Spanish words he constantly used and not only did she love the language itself, but she loved calling people terms of affection, almost as much as she loved it when people called her terms of affection too. âCan you get that for me, please?â She said before leading the way back to her living room and flopping down on her couch. âMy panties are going to stay dry, thank you very much, but I have a feeling my eyes wonât. Itâs just so⊠sad, you know? They couldâve been really happy together but her parents didnât allow it, but it is sickeningly sweet - and you can tease me about it all you want - but they found their way back to each other! If thatâs not the sweetest thing in the world, then I donât know what is. Now, come on,â she said, patting the space beside her before leaning forward to play the movie from her laptop, which by the help of the HDMI chord, was projected on the television right in front of them. âAre you serious, cariño? Havenât you ever been so head over heels in love, with the whole butterflies in your stomach and all the heart eyes and all that? At one point, didnât you ever picture yourself settling down and having a family with someone?â She asked, turning her attention towards him because the opening credits werenât enough to hold her attention just yet. âAnd they died together. Thatâs⊠a little morbid but also kind of sweet? Sort of⊠well, okay, not really, but their story before that was pretty sweet. Painful, but satisfying. If Iâm going to end up crying, itâs all your fault,â Callie said with a light laugh.
âAlright--- just for that Iâm goinâ fuckinâ penguin on your ass and givinâ you nothing but a god damn pebble off the streets.â His joking declaration was matched with a pair of dark orbs narrowed in her direction. There wasnât a doubt in his mind that Calle would accept any ring, no matter who was putting it on her finger, but he had to give her a hard time for the response, anyways. It was just how they worked. Just for laughs he was already planning to look for the ugliest rock he could find outside of work that night to gift her at the end of their shifts. Tipping his beer back Dom swallowed a heavy gulp and then finally pushed away from the counter, grabbing her beer as well and following her steps toward the living room. âDonât need some fancy ass blinged out ring to know Iâll be keepinâ my girl more than happy,â his mouth edged into a lewd grin as his brows gave a suggestive wiggle, âtrust me.â Sheâd have to considering it wasnât like she was about to find out personally. Their friendship was the closest he had outside of the club, but they werenât close like that... As if talking up his sex life was the most normal thing in the world ( and it kind of was ) Dom gave nothing more than a laugh after that and sank down onto the couch cushions beside her. It only took a matter of seconds before he was falling sideways, landing the back of his head dead center in her lap. When it came to hanging out at Callieâs place he made himself right at home. âI sure hope youâre not my mom... thatâd be awkward as hell considerinâ Iâve seen your tits a time or two up on that pole... how would I explain that to dad? Does he even know about your double life? I mean shit--- this is gunna make for one hell of a next family dinner...â Glancing up at her from his position below he held a serious expression for one, maybe two, beats and then erupted into laughter. It seemed he couldnât stop, either, because the noise continued to overshadow the sound of the TV for a solid half minute before he finally calmed down enough to gulp in a full breath. As he laid there staring up at her a depth of sincerity washed over his relaxed features. âI know you ainât ever gunna stop worryinâ about me but... face it, Cal. Iâm always gunna come home bleedinâ ân broken,â assuming he came home at all, âno use stressinâ yourself out over the small shit,â he continued as a smile that didnât quite reach his eyes began to form against his mouth, âitâll just give ya wrinkles on that pretty face and, letâs be real here, itâs your money maker.â Well, that and a few of her other assets, but he was going to keep that particular comment to himself for once. âLet me come to the rescue for a change nâ just relax.â Whether that meant by fixing her truck or giving her yet another ride to work on the back of his bike didnât really matter. She took care of him in more ways than just patching up his wounds after a rough night. There was an intense need coiling in the pit of his stomach to see her taken care of, too. Dom did the best he could on any given day, but he knew even that usually wasnât enough. The club took up so much of his time--- it was hard to be there every time she called and needed a hand. Being able to promise her those two small things and actually mean it mattered to him. Thinking about it, even for those few seconds, seemed to bring a heavier weight to the mood so with a quiet clearing of his throat Dom flashed her a lopsided grin. âAnd for the record? Iâm layinâ in your lap... Iâll be able to tell if youâre lyinâ about them panties.â Yep--- with the flash of a wink he was back. Chortling over his own joke he finally turned his head to look at the screen, reaching up and over blindly to grab a handful of popcorn out of her bowl. âAs serious as a cop askinâ me if I had anythinâ to do with a few dead Dragons...â So maybe that was a lie... once upon a time he thought himself in love, but it hadnât quite worked out the way heâd imagined at the time. The brutal and confusing ending to that relationship just served to prove to him that love didnât exist. How could it when the one person who you always thought would be there for you no matter what could so easily walk away? Before any sign of bitterness could settle in his cleared his throat again and stared at the opening scene playing out across the screen. âI already have a family and every last oneâa âem has a Wolves kutte on their back. Donât need much more than that.â Of course he did, but itâd be a cold day in hell before he admitted it out loud. Wanting that sort of thing wasnât healthy because it wasnât going to happen. Shoving another palm of popcorn into his mouth he stayed quiet and chewed through the bite, only picking back up once it safely cleared his throat. âIâll take the blame, just donât go gettinâ makeup all over my shirt if your tears get the best of you. Itâs oneâa my nice ones.â Meaning it looked exactly the same as all the rest--- faded black from the sun but still dark enough to hide anything and everything that might come his way.
