In late 2013, Sean Chiplock, also known as SonicMega, attempted to groom a 15 year old trans boy. His name was Casper, and I was friends with him.

In early 2013, Sean was hired to be a voice actor for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers, a fan-project. At the time, PMD-E was among one of the largest roleplay fan art groups on DeviantArt. Sean and Glitchedpuppet, the project creator, did not end this project on amicable terms.

Glip and their partner, Eevee, posted about their discontent for Sean in late May 2013. The initial disagreement is not relevant or notable to this post, as Sean publicly recognized his actions were not okay. 

The preceding events are noteworthy, though. On December 5th, 2013, NISA announced that Sean would be a VA in their DanganRonpa localization. Glip was a DanganRonpa fan, and responded to the announcement with several call-out posts about Sean: December 5th, December 6th, December 7th. None of these posts mention that he had groomed a child, to which Glip was aware of.

Because on December 7th, Casper posted this journal to DeviantArt:

Glip (PK being their old pseudonym) spoke to Casper privately before this post. So, why didn’t they mention this in their update on the 7th?

It’s peculiar how this journal fell to the wayside. A few months later, in February 2014, DanganRonpa’s official localization released. As a result, Glip posted yet another call-out post on Sean. This post also makes no mention of the fact he groomed a minor, but it does mention that they got an apology from his coworker Kaiji Tang. Which they drew fanart in response for.

There would be no further mention of Sean grooming a minor until 2019. Glip and Eevee attempted to oust him from his position as an announcer at Games Done Quick. From what I recall, Sean did get kicked in 2020, but this was later appealed? Anyway, that’s where things are now.

TL;DR: He had a rocky history with a previous employer who had an unsavory background. Sean has gone on to say that he wants no association with Glip and discredits their claims about him. This seems like a reasonable request, given that cursory research on Glitchedpuppet and Eevee unearth deplorable things, neither Glip nor Eevee are reliable narrators and both are known to readily lie to hide their own deplorable actions or discredit their own victims whom speak out. 

But the history between Glip and Sean has obfuscated what Sean has done to Casper.

People often conflate Casper’s story with Glip’s, and then proceed to disregard Casper’s story because they believe the story is from a known liar instead of the 15 year old child who it is really from.

This is unsurprising, because Sean himself leaned into this by ‘debunking’ claims made by Casper by simply pretending the claims were made by Glip instead.

Casper had no association with Glitchedpuppet. He was not a fan of their art work. He was not part of Glip’s community. It is as his journal stated, he saw Glip’s post about his sexual abuser and simply reached out to them.

A 23 year old asking a 15 year old how he masturbates is far more incriminating than two adults beefing over a chatroom ban. It is deceptive for Sean to claim that Casper enjoyed being sexually harassed by him, and that it was only a joke.

Casper was only 15.

Personally speaking, I am devastated. I am a huge Digital Circus fan and I adore this fandom. And I was also abused by Glitchedpuppet, so I do understand why this was buried for a decade.

But the claims about grooming did not originate from Glip.

As for the OP who posted this, you’ve made Cas’s life miserable.

Please understand something important: the reason that this is a miserable experience for Casper is because of the insane amount of people denying his lived experience and harassing him. As Casper has said in this exact thread he posted, I have apologized to him profusely for this landing on his lap.

But the alternative is allowing for this to go quietly unnoticed for another decade while Sean culminates an even bigger audience of minors.

Casper does not blame me for posting this or for finding it important to retell his tale. No, what has been the actual nightmare experience here is having random adults and Sean himself move the goalpost over and over instead of believing in victims.

I’ve heard this a few times now. I weighed it like this- the lesser of two evils. It was either, I keep quiet about public information from a decade ago because I cannot get permission from a person I can’t find, or allow the guy who currently voices in a bunch of media with primarily minor audiences to get… access to more minors. Like it’s either, earth up the trauma again, or let it happen to someone else.

And I’m not the only person in recent times to mention this publicly. I run a very small TADC server. I mentioned this event off the cuff to a member back in December. They did not believe me because a YouTuber told them that what happened to Casper was “disproven”. As someone who knew Casper, I felt obligated to make this post, as I witnessed all of this unfold in real time. People in 2023 and 2024 were already being insensitive about Casper. That did not feel right to me.

Lance and Lotor meet for the first time in the heat of battle.

Lotor knocking the bayard from Lance’s hands and kicking him to the ground, where his helmet falls off from the impact.

Lance glares up at the masked Lotor, who walks up with sword in hand. Out of respect for beating the Paladin, Lotor removes his visually blocking mask.

Lance let’s his glare fall away and into a small laugh, leaving Lotor to question in anger.

“What’s so funny?”

“I was just thinking “What a nice way to go with a beauty in my sights.”“

Lance closes his eyes, as he doesn’t want to see his end come. After awhile, he opens his eyes as Lotor is gone.

Lance looks around, lost and confused. Then he gets yelled at by Keith, telling the Space Case to move it.

Lotor is behind a corner, holding his chest and freaked out because no one has ever called him a beauty and when someone does call him that, it’s from a Paladin.

I knew that was coming after the latest episode, omg. This is gonna be long.

Okay, it looks like the anime is making a lot of people confused, so I’m gonna be as honest as possible here. The animators seem to be trying hard to adapt as much as possible from the novel, but… they’re clearly attempting to keep it overly neutral when it comes to the implications that Seigi and Richard might be in love with each other. It doesn’t feel like they have bad intentions (I’d say they’re actually just worried about the DVD sales), but it’s obvious to me that they’re trying to please all audiences. Ironically, I think the anime is going to fail because of that. The novel has a large fanbase and maybe the studio was counting on that to make the anime a success, but without the intensity of the books, the story becomes kinda boring, and without the emphasis on Seigi and Richard’s interactions (which offer in-between breaks so that the reader can stop and digest what’s happening), it turned out a little too fast-paced.

To give full context, the novels provide a lot (and I do mean a lot, you guys have literally no idea) of material for this ship and for the characters. They’re also way more intense in every single aspect and there’s usually more emotion between the two. Each chapter could make at least two episodes, and the contents usually touch upon the subject of “love” in many forms, which eventually comes back to Seigi and Richard and their karmic connection. Seigi is also a bit more childish and Richard is way less aloof in it, which makes them more endearing and their exchanges more humane.

Even in the smallest details, the novel brings the readers’ attention to their bond in a way that even people who don’t like BL wouldn’t be uncomfortable. It’s all just very natural and unpretentious, so if it were any other novel, I would say that there’s zero chance of them being a couple, but… the author of this one is woke as hell, so nobody can tell what she might do. The point is: there’s just so much of these two in the books, and most of it has been cut out in the anime. The essential scenes can’t be cut out, though, and they’re usually heavy and full of meaningful lines. That’s why the anime feels so close yet so far. You suddenly see Richard and Seigi talking about how much they like each other, but you haven’t really been shown how they got there in the first place. That’s bound to confuse the viewers.

Just to give an example of how hit-and-miss the anime is, at the point where the story is right now, Seigi was dreaming with Richard every night in the novel. In the dreams, it seemed like Richard was about to kiss him, so Seigi started asking himself if he had romantic feelings for Richard. And whether he is actually in love with Richard or not is the biggest debate of the novel, in my opinion. But leaving romance aside, Seigi does love Richard. He just doesn’t quite know what kind of love that is, and defining it is one of the most persistent difficulties for him.

To answer your question now, the novels are still on-going and there are many things happening in it even now in the ninth volume, so believe it or not, it’s still unclear where Seigi and Richard really stand. The story is super slow-burn and it highkey feels like a love story, so it’s come to a point where it sometimes seems more likely that they might indeed end up together than otherwise, but you can never be too sure. Still, the Japanese readers all agree that the story is about the two of them cherishing and protecting each other regardless of what their relationship is, rather than about whether it should be labeled as romantic or not. The only thing that seems clear enough is the fact Seigi sees Richard as more important to him than anyone and anything else, and is pretty desperate to make him happy.
