I was never part of the period where day6 debuted and spent a lot of their time busking and performing at small venues but it doesn’t take much for people to see they’ve accomplished so so much within a few years. even if they’re classified as a korean band rather than idols they still produce kpop tracks in a highly saturated market and have been competing with many other groups who promote at the same time. to read about them growing from having a handful of fans, selling maybe couple hundred albums, cancelling shows because they didn’t have enough ticket sales, and feeling a lot of self doubt when their songs weren’t doing well on the charts till now! selling out stadiums, winning awards left and right, being idolized and loved by many of their seniors and juniors in the same field is very heartwarming. day6 didn’t become famous overnight, and they’ve spent many many years simply trying to make music that people will love and appreciate. so for people to say that all their fame and awards come from being in jype is so ignorant when day6 has put in 250% of their entire selves into everything they’ve ever produced and released to the public. you don’t get constant admiration and promotion from singer songwriters and actors IN the entertainment industry just because you’re from a specific company. they’ve worked hard for everything they’ve ever gotten, and to put everything in perspective, they’re still underrated for all the projects they’ve done in four years. nobody compares to day6 and that’s that hoes
