          Roxie moved the containers to the kitchen counter. “They should be good right here. No need for refrigeration.” She plucked a chocolate chip cookie out of the top box and bit into it. “Aw, Abby! You didn’t have to clean for me. I would still love you.” She smiled brightly and started putting cookies and cake on a plate.

She nodded as Roxanne put the containers down. “Okay, good.” She just wanted to make sure, after all. As they put the treats on some plates for them to take up, she snagged a cookie and plucked it into her mouth while she did. Then she bit down and nodded. “Trust me, I did.” She muttered out, mouth half full as she attempted to chew.

“I’ll agree to that for now, but I highly suggest you reconsider it. I’m not really a great dancer, so it’d really just end with you embarrassed and me looking like a damn fool.”

“Me? Embarrassed?” She scoffed, “I think you forget who you’re talking too, or maybe you didn’t know before. But I’m the ex queen bee that really doesn’t give two shits what anyone in this school thinks of me anymore. So, trust me, if anything you’ll be the one embarrassed by being seen with me in public.”

“i know, i was a little skeptical about it myself just because of the way geralt was made and his facial structure, and i mean i was worried they’d have someone who would have to learn everything but henry’s read the books- which is what the show is supposedly based on so i have high hopes,” he continued to ramble as he glanced at the clock with a smile. when abby insisted that he didn’t have to do anything he was doing, he merely shrugged with his smile still intact. “i know i don’t have to,” was all he said before shrugging out of his coveralls and wiping his hands on a clean rag. when she agreed to come with him though he grinned, nodding towards the back of the shop where he had his bike parked. “if you want, you can go get aqaintented with darla while i lock up, she’s parked out back.” 

“Well, the creators or a show like that are going to want the connection to be there, and for fans to be happy, but to also get to put in their own spin.” She explained with a shrug. “So, we’ll see what happens, I guess. I really don’t know how it’s going to turn out. But I do have high hopes it’ll be enjoyable.” And that’s really all anyone could ask for when it came to a show. Abby smirked and nodded, “Okay, sure. I guess I’ll go meet her and let you finish up here.” She brushed her hair back and moved across the shop and out the back door to take a look at the motorcycle she’d soon be riding on. 

          “Hi Abby!” she greeted. “Thank you!” She stepped inside and set the baked goods down where she could. “I hope they’re good. Well, I already had a cookie and I know it’s good, so I hope you think it’s good too.” She giggled and then turned to wave at her parents’ car before they left. Then she closed the door.

“I’m sure they’re all delicious!” She lit up and started to walk down the hall to the kitchen. “We can put the stuff in the kitchen for now! Anything need to be put in the fridge or-” She wasn’t the best baker, so she wasn’t sure if it should be kept in a colder climate. “And we can stack some treats on my plate and bring them up to my room! I even cleaned.” She nodded, proudly as she stopped at her kitchen counter.

“Any special requests? Whether it be alcohol or music, I try to make sure the special ones I invite have something to enjoy.”

“Hmm,” She thought about it, something she could request since she was personally being invited. “How about you save me a dance?” 

“you took the words right out of my mouth. some of the people who play it make it hard to play at all,” he chuckled before he seemed to perk up a little more as he listened to her talk about the game he’d brought up. when she went on about playing it for a month straight and gushing over one of the characters he couldn’t help but give her a wider grin. “they’re making it a series on netflix too and i’m so stoked about it, so far it looks like it’s going to be good and i have hope for it. henry cavil is playing geralt or so i’ve heard,” he rambled right back in the midst of changing oil, finishing it up quickly before looking over at her again when she admitted to never having been on a bike while adding that she trusted him; looking away for  amoment as he felt his face flush a light red. “well, i’d be happy to take you on your first ride then. i’ll grab lunch too- my treat.” 

“Sometimes a game can be pretty good but the community that comes with it can be pretty bad, sad truth of gaming sometimes. Especially the online games.” She’d witnessed a lot, from League of Legends to Fortnite. “Henry Cavill is!? Ugh! What a man, though I have no idea how they’re going to make that work. Geralt’s a very specific looking man.” She was excited about this future show and was going to binge it whenever it came out, hopefully all at once. She perked up at his offer. Now he was suggesting lunch too? “Really? You don’t have to do all this, you know.” He was being so nice to her and she really didn’t see it all coming. “But I’d love too, sure..”

“why would you want to keep your head down? because of the bees? that’s ridiculous. just because tilly treats you like crap doesn’t mean you can actually start believing you are one.” she nearly scoffed in the end, more than obviously getting more opinionated about everything as of recently. sure, some would consider it was all her boyfriend’s doing, but it wasn’t. “a photo? girl. c’mon. you know i have like.. dozen.” she started chuckling then, unlocking her phone and directly going over to the album strictly reserved for photos that involved her boyfriend before extending it over. “scroll away,” she beamed, proudly. “okay, now tell me what’s new with your life? any new beau’s?” 

A slight chuckle and Abby quickly shook her head, “No, no. That’s not what it’s about at all. I just want to be far away from all that petty, high school drama as possible. Going near them would just tempt me to smack a bitch, and I just might at this point if poked too much.” It was harsh, it was raw, but it was also real. Given the right kind of fight, she probably would smack one of them. She took the phone with a grin and started to scroll “What a stud, Eli. Oh my God, you’re so cute together.” She gushed ever so slightly. But also noticeably. “Me?” She scoffed at that one. “Nothing serious, no. If anything there’s just a lot of flirting a bit of... hooking up?” She shrugged, unbothered by how much she was sharing. “Not sure I could handle anything past that right now.”

          When Roxanne arrived at home after school, she asked her parents about the sleepover and, while they were reluctant at first because of Roxie’s grandmother, they eventually allowed her to go. She began baking cupcakes and brownies with the help of her mother (who knew how poor Roxanne’s baking skills were and didn’t want Roxanne’s friend to eat raw batter). She later arrived at Abby’s front step with a stack of plastic containers filled with treats and her backpack filled with sleepover supplies and she carefully rang the doorbell.

When Abby got home from school she went straight to her room to attempt and tidy things up a bit. She left her room in shambles that morning with no time or patience to clean. But now she’d have Roxanne over, so she knew it was needed. She basically cleaned until she heard the bell and quickly went to answer it. “Roxie! Welcome to my home.” She grinned and stepped aside for her to answer, getting a peak at the goodies she brought. “Wow, you were not kidding about the treats.”

“Music, booze, and a good time. Bring a swimsuit cause we usually end up in the pool by the end of the night.”

“Sounds a little too tempting to pass up! I guess you can count me in.”

Bellamy: so i probably started at -1000 points but how do you think i'm doing now on the redeemable front?

Bellamy: dairy's gave me at least 50 points, right?

Bellamy: so that's like -950

Bellamy: i only need 951 to go before i'm in the positives

Abby: Hmm...

Abby: Sounds pretty accurate tbh!

Abby: Tho I'd say after we talked you went up to -900

          Roxanne grinned. “Don’t worry; I like nerdy things too. I can’t wait!” She bounced a little again and then straightened the straps of her backpack. “I’m going to class, but text me your address!”

She nodded and finally let the other go, so she could run off to class. “Literally taking my phone out now to send it!” She said, slipping her phone out. She knew if she didn’t do it now she’d forget, too. “See you later!” She waved off as she texted, heading to her own class.

“Then I’ll be sure to save you some for the after party at my place.”

“After party at your place?” Her interest was peaked, for a moment. “I’m listening.” 

Rowan breathed a giant, internal sigh of belief as Abby just dropped the whole thing. It was better this way, for all parties involved. She took a small bite of her sandwich, shaking her head. “I’ve seen some pictures… I know the sides come apart to work as controllers separated from the screen? But that’s all.” Rowan nodded again, “Besides PoGo, I’ve never played a videogame. And my phone is too old to handle even Tetris. I just have my Pokémon. So that sounds fun.”

She let out a heavy sigh, sad to hear Rowan barely knew anything about the Switch and that was probably the only console she did know about. “Okay, you definitely need to come over so I can properly educate you.” She said, nodding her head. “I can’t stand for this, Row, I really can’t let you go any further in life without ever even playing on the Switch, or any console.”

“Not at the moment, but if you find me at the dance I’ll probably have a flask on me.”

“Well, if I’m bored enough to go to a school dance, I’ll make sure to come find you first.” She grinned. “Parties I’m all for, but school dances, those are another story.”
