@spearpearson;
With the recent events going on at Northlake and his mom taking on more responsibility at work, the Gardners had a family discussion and thought itād be best for Peyton to get a babysitter -- since neither Bellamy nor the neighbors that often look after her could always be relied on what with their own responsibilities. Bellamy occasionally had obligations that would keep him at school like projects or tutoring, and sometimes just plain olā hanging out with friends. While his mom likes to ensure he spends ample time with his little sister, she also doesnāt want to keep him from living his own life and enjoying his last year of high school -- in a new town no less, which is one of the reasons sheās being so giving. Peyton argues that she can take care of herself but she didnāt seem opposed to the idea of someone different looking after her, so babysitter it was. And Bellamy knows just to consult about that too. Or he thinks. Heās heard around and he hopes this person isnāt too busy to take on caring for his little sister.
Spotting her on campus, Bellamy walks over -- albeit a little awkwardly since he doesnāt know her too well -- before going,Ā āHey. Um, Rowan, right? Iām Bellamy. The new kid.ā Sort of new? Thereās a lot of new kids this year it seems, so that might not be the best way to describe himself.Ā āUm, anyway, Iām kind of new is all I mean,ā he explains in a shy mumble, feeling super self-conscious with what heās about to ask her.Ā āAnyway, um, I heard you kind of babysit a lot? Like from neighbors with their kids and stuff. And I was wondering if maybe you, I dunno, had time for one more?ā Is this how people normally hired babysitters?Ā āLike just sometimes. Not all the time. Like maybe you could tell me what days you have available or something and Iāll see if it meets up with ours and like-- yeah. Sorry,ā he says after a moment, looking down at his feet, an evident blush to his cheeks.Ā āI donāt really know how to do this but Iām basically hoping for your help.ā He smiles at her a little sheepishly.
