“Why do parents feel the need to be embarrassing every single time that they get the chance?” Minnie groaned, as she watched her umma talking to a few of the other parents. She’d exited the conversation about the time that the baby pictures had been brought out. She was ecstatic that her umma was being more social than she’d been in quite some time, but did it have to be at her expense? “Anyway, at least the food is delicious. That always seems to be the one thing these events get right.” ( @luxorstarters​ ) 

Damian listened to the other as she complained about being embarrassed. He understood, after all, it was only the natural thing for parents to do. It only showed how much they cared about their kids, he knew that. But still, at what cost? “I think it’s just natural for parents to do that.” He pointed out. “If they don’t embarrass you, do they even love you?” He said, a small chuckle escaping his lips. At her change of subject, he nodded his head. “That is... very true. I think if the food sucked I wouldn’t even bother showing up. Not worth the... 20 something hour flight. I don’t even remember.”

 “Can’t believe I woke up with a headache and the taste of ashes in my moyth on my own fucking BIRTHDAY,” Alfie grumbled over his plate of lunch, which was technically his breakfast since he’d woken up pretty late. “I get that these fuckers don’t like spoiled rich kids - believe me, I don’t like them either - but why should the rest of us broke hoes SUFFER, as well?”

Dawn was sitting next to Alfie as they ate lunch, figuring she’d spend lunch with him for his birthday. Her treat. As he complained, she empathized with him. It did suck, surely, but frankly enough she was fine. She got out of there pretty quickly. It was almost as if it hadn’t happened for her. “How can I help to make the rest of your day be even better? I can’t have you be grump on your birthday.”
