âIâm doing homework.â Zander said, as if that was a valid reason for his reaction. At least Alfie didnât seem offended by it, because he didnât need another one of his cousinâs soccer balls to the nose. âPlease donât.â Immediately at the suggestion of Alfie trying to help, he starts putting his coursework away - his eyes narrowing at his cousin as he tries to gauge what trouble the boy was trying to stir up this time. âI didnât get any roses, I got Ches some lilies from a local florist.â It wasnât a complete lie, he hadnât gotten roses - just a singular rose, and he didnât want to discuss it. âUnless you mean the ones I got as gifts, because Jack spoiled me. Iâm framing the message.â He smirks. So maybe he found Jack getting him mean gifts a bit too amusing, but how else was he supposed to react?
âAh.â Alfie nodded in understanding before a huge grin broke out on his face. âLuckily you have an absolute ray of SUNSHINE thatâs more than willing to help. Spoler alert: itâs me!â The moment Zander shut his offer for help down, he threw his hands up and whined in offense. âThat was so rude! Iâm smart! I COULD help!â Not that he particularly wanted to in that exact moment. His nose scrunched up at the mention of Ches and he made sure he made his most disgust face, though he at least had the decency to not start talking shit. âOh, come on, ZANDY! Donât tell me your Valentineâs was actually that boring! Wait - what did Jack get you? Do I want to know?â Alfieâs eyebrows scrunched up. âI got some entertaining roses myself but most importantly, I have a brilliant idea to help get your mind off things. What do you say I set you up with someone, huh? Sounds great, right?â
